2010 was just too hot for me, up as soon as the sun hit the tent every morning, not being able to drink alcohol during the day for fear of dehydration, sunburn, potential sunstroke.... I didn't enjoy it one bit, reminded me of Bennicassim.

All I'm after is the ground to be dry enough to sit on and walk comfortably on, it to be warm enough to wear a t-shirt during the day and some white cloud to break the sunshine up. Not too much to ask is it?

pffft 2010 was the perfect weather conditions! Absolutely sensational. Anything less is unsatisfactory.

Nahh, the man speaks sense, worst year for me also, but then I do have red eyes and milk white hair. Of course I'm lying as my avatar depicts the real me, not lying about the weather tho :)

bloody pasty faced brits (and irish..). If you're not moaning about the rain you're moaning about the sun!

sun>all

haha. Nah its the hangover on Friday that got me. Only for a couple of hours but I had to power down during Willie Nelson. 30+ degreees with a got to the tent at 7am whiskey hangover. :negative:

Your "shelter" consisting of two kiddies "brollies" (I think one was a frog) was a pathetic sight.

I'm with the orang-utan on this one. You have to prepare for sunny weather as much as you do for rainy weather, but sunny weather doesn't trash the site.

We'd all take 2010 over 2011. That said, it was still far too hot for a lot of people. My missus was 3 months pregnant at the time. Dunno how she survived!!

;)

I remember '97 and '98. Nothing in the new millennium comes close. Nothing.

'11 was pretty good though. It rained a bit on the Friday, but Sunday was an absolute scorcher.

Dunno, the constant pissing down rain of Sunday in 2007 was worse than the sticky mud of 1997 or the drizzle + standing water of 1998. Maybe it's just because I was younger in 1998, but I don't remember it being anywhere near as miserable as 2007.

That Sunday was horrible. Worse than any day in 2010 for me. I think it was a combination of being tired by battling through the previous shit weather and the ground still being quite bad. Better than it pissing all day, yes, but it was too much and too late.

I wasn't there in '07, but... '98 was far from drizzle. I still vividly remember the rain hammering it down through Foo Fighters afternoon set on the pyramid - I could barely see the band because of the rain and the steam coming off the audience.

Definitely.

97 and 98 were bad enough but from what I remember of 97 especially, most of the rain had come before the festival.

That Sunday in 2007 was the absolute pits... the rain was non-stop, the site was almost unmanageable at the end and the Sunday night itself was brutal.

Sheet rain, howling wind, terrible stuff.

It was the same weekend when a lot of the UK suffered severe flooding so it could actually have been worse.

Leaving the site that Monday was one of the most miserable experiences of my life.

Then made worse by the fact our minibus said he couldn't get closer than the cricket ground because of the cordon so we would have to walk and meet him.

Nightmare

But you could sit on the ground again, so you didn't have to be on your feet all the time, so for me it was way less tiring.

It did have that, but I felt it was far too hot to just sit out in the sun.

Now I think about it, I was blaming the heat for me being a grumpy, restless arsehole, but that could have happened anyway.

You must be right, those shin height pools of water by the pyramid couldn't have got there through drizzle! I was at 97, 98, 05 and 07 and I'd probably rank them from worst to best as:

  1. 07
  2. 97
  3. 98
  4. 05

I only rank 97 as worse than 98 by a hair, although it rained more in 98, the mud was just SO thick in 97 I preferred in in 98 because the extra water meant you could get about a bit. I did have tennager-flu in 98, so spent quite a bit of time in my tent, maybe that's why I didn't suffer so much from the rain.

2007 was definitely the worst I agree.

In my mind 2003 had the best ever weather, but I cant really remember how it compared to 2010.

2003 was definitely a scorcher.

I learned the painful lesson of sunstroke.

Hands were swollen way up and I kept blacking out in Bristol Airport on the Monday.

The flight was excruciating and I needed assistance to get off the damn thing in Belfast.

Monday night was the worst of all time.

That scene in Trainspotting when Renton is going cold turkey is eerily close... just not quite as bad

98 we opened our friends tent and her air bed came floating out on a river of water. None of us took waterproofs with us either, learnt a lession that year.

I can also remember Finley Quaye coming on in the rain and when he started singing 'the sun is shining' crowds of people left the field.
