Its up on the BST web site now all those are playing. Pretty good to see Drenge up there looking forward to there new album also will be good to see the Horrors always seem to miss them when they play play festivals.

Thats a pretty low key lineup for 82 quid! Imagine how much Blur will be making from this considering the Libertines were meant to get half a million each for Hyde Park last year and those tickets cost about 60 quid

Its not even the greatest New Order tune imo. But it is arguably the most influential British song ever. New Order were light years ahead of every other British band in terms of music and style.

It is quite remarkable how 5 musicians have made such diverse and innovative pop music, which was equally at home in the bedsits of Manchester as it was in New York nightclubs.

New Order are very up and down live. But when they are up, they seem untouchable.

Damon Albarn shares a lot of similarities to Bernard Sumner. But Sumners catalogue of music under different guises is astounding. Joy Division, New Order and Electronic is some C.V

Albarn's CV is no slouch in fairness.

I'm thrilled about it tbh, was expecting some bands from the 90s going through the motions as support. Love Metronomy, The Horrors and Drenge. Made me much happier about forking out the cash

that's a pretty decent lineup, but for £85 you'd definitely expect at least one quite big name as the main support. all of those acts have been very easy to catch at almost every festival over the past couple of years

it really is. Especially when you consider their live show is literally just them stood there playing the songs.

Metronomy and Roots Manuva I'm happy with but would expect a couple of bigger acts to be announced given that there are more to come

would they not have announced the bigger act(s) first and followed on with the smaller ones? unless people's guesses of SFA playing are true and they can't yet announce them (or another act under similar circumstances)

edit: just seen that SFA have already announced dates so wouldn't make much sense to hold them back - in fact it'd make total sense to announce them today

I would have thought the would have put a TBA up on the poster if SFA were also booked but could not be announced for any reason, then again I could be wrong.

just had a look and it does say 'plus special guests' on the BST website which would suggest something fairly decent is left to be announced (and not just bands lower down the bill who you've never heard of)

I think it's saying those are the special guests.

It's pretty good for me. Horrors and Metronomy are amongst my favourite bands and a couple more I like there too but it's still extortionate whoever they add.

If it was a big, exciting act, they'd have just announced them rather than billing them as 'special guests'. They obviously feel the 'special guests' moniker will shift more tickets than the band itself

Unless it's for legal reasons, which would also make sense

It's good, but it just doesn't seem to justify the cost. Something like New Order and The Specials would make it seem more worth it. When I saw that they were announced for 2012, I thought it was excellent value for money

yeah, it's a bit weird. if Metronomy and The Horrors are the biggest support acts then they're mugging people off a bit - those two acts are UK festival staples these days. hard pressed to not see them at least once a year

I caved and got a ticket but hoping a bigger act gets announced to support. 2012 + 2009 support were both better IMO

I think I am right in saying the 2012 gig was part of the Olympics closing and billed as a best of British through the decades (how that meant Bombay BC I don't know) which is why the support was good and the price cheaper.

They had things going on in the Hyde Park 'arena' throughout the Olympics

Thinking about it they probably has a lot more cash to spend on acts as well in 2012 as it was part of the Olympics closing ceremony one would have thought hence the big names on that bill.

that's a good point. and i've just looked back at the 2009 support and the acts (at the time) weren't any bigger than what's been announced thus far - Foals, Vampire Weekend, Flo & The Machine, Friendly Fires etc. although it was a lot LOT cheaper so still a lot more justifiable
