No, in all "likelyhood" they'll be right - it's very mixed at the moment, so the confidence level is going to be low, but whatever they forecast, it's more likely it'll be that than something else. That doesn't guarantee it'll be right, there's probably a 20% chance the forecasts will be totally wrong.

But for "all likelyhood" you'd need a 50% chance + of them being wrong. Which just isn't the case. Apologies for using words.

I'm a massive fan of this post, I think it sums up the weather thread perfectly, good work.

if I hadn't run out of up votes one would be winging it your way.

There is a pretty high confidence through to Thursday at the moment, so it seems very likely we'll be in good conditions for arrival and the pre-festival festivities. Just need things to hold firm for the weekend. Tonight's run could be quite important, as if it backs things up we'll have had this general trend for the past 24-36 hours after a week of things being all over the place.

I'm getting quietly confident it's going to be a good one. We won't avoid rain altogether but I'm thinking we might now avoid anything that will affect the ground for anything but a short period.

Now watch the runs in just over an hour show the rain having sunk south and engulfed the site Friday through to Sunday....

I'm sorry that you don't understand science, modelling and statistics. It must be hard to be presented with all this data that makes no sense. Luckily, you don't need a PhD in meteorology to enjoy the festival.

Hi - as a total new person on this forum (which I've in fact followed for the last 2 festivals for info etc...) I'd just like to say thanks to pedmills and Devonanchor for the insight. Science + drama, what better a combo!?! Keep up the good work folks - and know that everything will be alright in the end!

Seriously, who cares about Countryfile? The BBC website's weather page will be more up to date when it is being broadcast.

Because the country file forecast has human input is and one of the most reliable forecasts there is. The bbc weather site is always out of date and has little human input and is based purely on the numerical models.

thanks,

I normally ignore all weather reports untill T -3days and even then its down to how stable the weather is, which in late june  in the uk - seems to be not great.

what's the best web site to look at?? (not checked since last year and can't remember!)

To be honest I think it's a bit of a lottery which one you actually look at until the timeframe you've noted - mainly because one icon for a whole day really can't tell the story.

I think you're all great. And I've spent nearly a whole year praising the weather gods in the thread next door. Let's be honest we all pretty much want the same thing.

Praise us all.

    • I think my party got pretty lucky last night, at least compared to some of the horror stories over on Reddit. I was very impressed with Father John Misty in particular.   Perhaps my view would be different if I were a big Massive Attack fan or whatever, but right now my feeling is that if it's not safe for the shows to go ahead... then it's not safe for the shows to go ahead. I'd much rather they were cautious than roll the dice when it comes to something like that.    Here's hoping everyone has a better day today.
    • It was awful during Father John Misty and I was close to the front. People just shouting and laughing their f-ing heads off about nothing in particular and being louder than the bloody stage.
    • Other things I noted yesterday, away from the obvious…   Positives: - an extra water point towards the back left of the main stages has appeared, which I believe is new for this year (and was much needed) - handing out free ponchos was a good touch  - caroline were fantastic. I’d never been in the Auditori Rockdelux before, it’s a wonderful venue and a great venue if you fancy a more chilled out environment  Negatives: - the talkers. I know it’s always bad here (and most festivals nowadays) but f**k me people wouldn’t shut up yesterday. I wonder if it was partly as a result of people being at artists they had little interest in (due to rain limiting their options), although it wasn’t great during blood orange. We’ll be making an effort to get a spot nearer the front for anyone we particularly care about over the weekend  - not enough staff around (and the ones that are there are largely useless). Most other festivals have them everywhere and are happy to help
