Most people I've spoken too who aren't on this forum aren't going to see Disclosure and only might see Foals if there aren't better options on the other stages, there's no deny the Friday is weak and really needs to be pushed up by the inclusion of a band like Weezer

`I think R&L have done pretty well for offering alternatives for that night, Skrillex & Diplo will be a huge draw, and presuming they headline their respective stages, I think AA, Oliver Heldens, Fetty Wap and Maximo Park will draw crowds of a decent size too.

Out of all the alternatives I'm only interested in Maximo Park, the whole of the Friday is very good if you're into Indie and listen to a lot of Radio 1, if you don't however there's few acts you'll want to see, it's a very mainstream friendly day compared to the Saturday and Sunday

150k people going to Glasto aren't either as it's the same setlist and time length.

Jack Ü clashing with Asking Alexandria is going to be such a hard choice for me.

You Reading or Leeds? I'm gutted with Foals (most likely) clashing with Jack Ü, I would skip Disclosure for them in a heartbeat but I can't stomach missing Foals for it. I'd say go with Jack Ü, Skrillex rarely tours the UK solo so it'd be a great oppertunity to catch him and Diplo.

New Architects track is incredible. If Dillinger aren't headlining The Pit, I'd love to see Architects do it with DEP subbing. If they don't play this year then I definitely expect them to get a high main stage slot in 2017. I fully expect this new album to push them towards the territory BMTH entered with Sempiternal, especially with BMTH seemingly leaving a gap for something heavier to take their place.

Architects can get bunned to the main. Dillinger to headline The Pit or gtfo

Basement at Tramlines tho

But they're playing loads of festivals this year :P
Still a good booking mind you, not enough to make me get a ticket though. You wouldn't happen to be a reason for their booking would you?

All of those headliners sounds awful and made me hate the line up even more now.

Hevy Fest is no longer and Sum 41 were never line up to headline so there's still plenty of chance they're at Reading. This years is cancelled, with the following statement.

''Hevy Fest is no more.

After 6 years of incredible bands, legendary hangs, and a lot of monkeys - we’re sorry to announce that Hevy Fest is pulling the plug.

Despite the best efforts of our dedicated team, the festival has become financially untenable. Many things have contributed: Port Lympne being unable to continue hosting the event, the increasingly difficult task of putting together a line-up with more and more exclusives enforced each year leading to difficulties confirming our final headliner, and the pressure to offer good value with spiralling costs. The odds are stacked against anyone taking on the challenge, and they have proven too great for us to overcome.

There is a great community of Hardcore, Punk and Metal supporters in the UK and we hope that other small festivals will be able to grow into this space, and to deliver the event we aspired to.

Ticket holders will be automatically refunded. All monies will be returned in the next 10 working days (including booking fees and postage).

As a small independent event, we want to thank everyone who has supported us over the years.

Hevy Fest // 2009 - 2015''

was just about to post that ^

any chance that R&L could see a few of the Hevy acts getting booked on the fallout - a la the last minute Don Broco & Twin Atlantic bookings.

Would love to see both Don Broco and Twin Atlantic, despite neither being at Heavy, but could definitely see La Dispute, Neck Deep and Refused all going to R+L and some of the smaller acts.

nah I was saying how DB & TA were slotted in last minute in mid/low slots on the NME in previous years- similar things could be done with Neck Deep or Enter Shikari perhaps? Feel like WSS might get added now too- Pit again?

Enter Shikari i don't know, maybe a Shikari Sound System set, but Shikari probably can't fit in, especially if the Weezer thing is true

That's bad news.

what a lineup! Really surprised that they can't shift tickets.

we've lost (probably) 'Hit the Deck' this year as well, not a good year for small festivals.

Hit the deck have said they're moving it to later in the year (like oct/nov), but it wouldn't surprise me if it doesn't come back either.. sucks.

R&L should definitely get La Dispute now. No excuses

I can see Neck Deep being added again but not Refused unfortunately

Reading the statement on their website and I don't reckon it was anything to do with ticket sales. New site (which was Derbyshire not Kent anymore), troubles securing the final headliner and the other all cost. They still had over 4 months to go and I'd have thought if it was ticket sales they could have held out a little longer to see if things improved. Heard that the organisation there was poor which seems to be the case reading statement.

Anyway I say small festivals this year are doing better than ever. Most of them look better than most of the major festivals too. I would have rather spend half the cash to go to Hevy this year than Leeds. May do 2000trees instead.

And we're taking acts from Hevy I'll gladly take Neck Deep, Saves The Day (but I'd prefer them to do Stay What You Are in full instead), Defeater, mewithoutYou, Shikari, Refused, While She Sleeps, La Dispute (if the only get one act, please be this one), Gnarwolves Arcane Roots, Rolo Tomassi and Giants.  A few of these would be nice

It has to be said that Refused own small tour wasn't hard to get tickets for, I would probably gone but day wise just didn't sit. I would imagine it may be too late in the day for R&L now but booked for Leeds Friday might be a game changer

Hit the deck struggled last year.

Even up to the last week they kept promising new bands which never came to fruition.Obvisly they were frantically behind the scenes trying to get more bands but in the end just said that they would go with what they had.(compare the 2014 and 2015 line ups)

Had one less venue and ticket sales weren't brilliant.I went and had a great day but I think all points to them not having a festival this year.(is it really easier to book bands in October compared to April?)

line up permitting I was definately looking to go again this year

God knows the logistics behind it, but i can agree that in my experience ive seen that more bands (especially US bands) that HTD would want to book do seem to tour the uk feb-march, then may-june (but these are gobbled up by DL and SD), then again oct-Nov. So with that in mind and especially that theres no fests during that time now that theres not been a TOC in years, it could be a good shout. If they can get it off the ground and aren't just blowing smoke to buy time.

    • Jesse Malin at Manchester Halle St Peter's last night.   So good to see him back touring after the trauma he has been through, him and the backing band sounded great.   Support was Bason. I quite enjoyed him, but man, that guy cannot sing.
