I guess that's why you don't think they can headline next time then.

No, not at all, that's not what I said. I said you can include them in the 'don't the use the they're shit excuse for why they can't'. My reason is mainly as there are others that are further along festivals. If Foals do headline next year, which I wouldn't rule out, it's because FR just want to give them it rather than they are big enough etc for it comfortably.

Me?

Nah that's not the reason. I'm not sure what it is; it just seems strange to me. I guess with them not being very established, and me not listening to the radio or anything, I probably haven't realised how massive they've become.

Idk if that slam dunk is prediction or wish list but TSSF would be above Tonight Alive, plus not enough pop punk for a mainly pop punk festival, ADTR is a good pick for headliner though

But except that its main focus isn't Pop Punk though? Also it the same as usual so I don't see the problem

They haven't become massive that's why.

Slam Dunk is a pop punk/hardcore/ska punk fest, I don't see them ever having an overly heavy headliner though, look at this years line up and tell me its main focus isn't pop punk/ska punk/hardcore festival

I think Imagine Dragons lack the credibility to be given a headliner slot; Olly Murs might do five nights at The O2 and fit in to V's demographic but he'll probably never headline the festival, I think the same notion applies to Imagine Dragons and R&L

I kinda get your point but credibility is tricky to define especially when these acts have become so prominent at festivals.

Regarding Imagine Dragons I think the fact their record sales seem to be slowing down rules them out from headlining more than their lack of credibility. Once this arena tour's done I can see R&L getting them as exclusive subs next year but I don't think they'll ever move beyond that

Was it the Killers or Kings of Leon that took a bit of time before they reached headline status?

It's a tedious link but Imagine Dragons do remind me a lot of bands like them both.. Maybe it's just because they are American? I don't know...

Imagine Dragons could make it to headline some day, but from my perception at least their popularity seems to be headed down rather than up. I had no idea they'd put out a new album until today, and I haven't heard anything from it (well it's possible I have and didn't realise it considering how many bands there are that sound exactly the same as them) whereas Radioactive was unavoidable when it first became a thing. I wouldn't say never, it's entirely possible a few years from now a festival gets desperate and bumps them up, but I'd wager against it.

I really find it hard to agree with that until they've been at the level for a while without moving up the ladder, particularly with them rising up the lineup so fast in the past couple of years.

I think a large difference between the acts would be that Murs' demographic will largely be not one that attends V Festival while Imagine Dragons will have a ton of fans at Reading and Leeds festivals into anthemic rock shit.

Their album went to no. 1 and has sold 200,000 copies in the two months since. Their sales have sped up if anything.

EDIT: that stat is wrong I was looking at the BPI Silver certification for singles. Just 60,000 but they took less time to get Silver so still sped up uh huh.

I think people tend to talk less about the second album than the first, when the first has done really well like theirs did.

When the first one came out, people were like 'wow you need to listen to this amazing new band' etc so everyone heard about it. With the second, everyone already knows about them, so people don't spend as much time telling other people about them.

I don't know if that made any sense. It did in my head at least
