Hey, it was one track. Very happy to accept that I was wrong, and with the exposure they seem to be getting, I reckon I'll get lots of chances to get to know them better.

Ben

You weren't wrong Ben.

Clearly the stuff on record didn't pack the same punch live.

i got a bit overexcited when i first listened and thought it was amazing. went back to it a couple of days later... meh, it's okay, but that's about it. wouldn't say it;s any better than Codes & Keys (which i found pretty disappointing but it's grown on me a little since). don't see it getting many plays from me tbh

Yeah that's sort of my thoughts on it. I quite liked it but it's nothing special and I don't see myself going back to listen to it often.

Ah okay, was hoping it'd at least be better than Codes :P I'll report back later! Edited by TomViolence

Gaz Coombes is in Belfast in May... definitely hoping to go.

Agree Matador is a fine album.

Anyone given 'Hinterland' by Lonelady a go yet?

Excellent stuff... highly recommended funky electronica

Hinterland is brilliant. Love the post punk / dance / funk sound.

Title track is the funkiest thing I've heard in ages. Would love her to show up, maybe JP ?

Hmm, didn't hear that live version.

I'd have thought it would translate well to being played live too.

Still, I think the album is good.

Definitely worth a go at least

If you havnt already watched it, check out Marc Rileys new music Prog All shook Up. It's produced for bbc iplayer so catch it there. First episode had live tracks from Slug, the wave pictures and Lonelady.

All great but I thought live lonelady was bloody excellent.

Missed the lists.

1. Trust Fund - No One's Coming For Us

2. Sufjan Stevens - Carrie & Lowell

3. Benjamin Clementine - At Least For Now

4. Bjork - Vulnicura

5. BC Camplight - How To Die in the North

6. Dan Mangan - Club Meds

7. Soko - My Dreams Dictate My Reality

8. Until The Ribbon Breaks - A Lesson Unlearnt

9. Protoje - Ancient Future

10. Courtney Barnett - Sometimes I Sit And Think, Sometimes I Just Sit

Love lists. That's ten. Can't be tamed.

Nice one cheers.

Yeah I'd like to see Lonelady on the JP or anywhere indoors really

I heard the new Of monsters and men single the other day, the first album is still a pop classic for me, so can't wait to hear more from them, album out in June. Really hoping they are the festival again this year, their 2013 performance was a real feel good highlight for me.

Liking this new Drenge album, need to check out their debut.

Yeah I like it as well, never gave the debut may listens so I might go back to it tomorrow. Missed them at last years festival so hoping they play again this year.

They're already ruled out, playing in Belgium and then two dates in France over Glastonbury weekend.

    • LCD Soundsystem seem perfect for the outdoor circuit. I could definitely see them doing that.
    • Thats a weekly one isn't it? He's been PM for two weeks and its been known longer than that. Labour , greens , lib dem's all seemed to be converging around 16/17% beforehand are now labour are breaking away.   The polls showing labour ahead have the lib dems down at something like 8%. I guessing as Burnham announces more blue labour policies like restarting north sea drilling those two parties will start to claw back a few of the voters they've lost.

    • Stadium gig/s 100% 2027.   As for the offer - dunno what to think. The source is very well placed and, to me, the timing checks out - I'm basing that on the stadium gigs coming after an arena tour... coming after a new record... following a record that propelled them to the next level.   As I keep saying with any info I've shared for Glastonbury next year, though, none of it feels nailed to me.    I assume that they're doing a half decent job of keeping things quiet (still early, I guess). It's all little bits of stuff doing the rounds in the industry. There's none of it that I'd hang my hat on right now. The bits I've shared - I thought they were worth sharing, given the source. Chat about Madonna, the Fontaines snippet, chat about Fender.    A gun to my head right now - Madonna would still be my number one bet. More of a gut feeling, but I feel like the recent doubt may be the festival and/or her people trying to calm the noise a bit after the Graham Norton slip, rather than a u-turn.
    • Have settlers people started receiving their car park passes? I was sure I had bought one, but cant find a receipt for it and nothing through the post yet.
