nice speech. Bit cringey and OTT but he is american (is he?) so I suppose we can make allowances.

You really are the personification of cynicism, russy.

And no, he's Danish.

Though the fact that they got Julien Temple in to direct it also suggests a bit of fest-related forethought.

I thought it was fabulous. Brought a lot of people onside who normally wouldn't have been and took the piss out of the mock online outrage that preceded them playing.

Maybe someone will do a native American headdress video next year.

The reveal of Metallica in bear costumes and that it was the hunters who were going to come to a sticky end was a punchline - or a twist, a reveal, a rug-pull or a switcheroo, if you'd prefer.

Except it didn't make any sense. It was a nice twist for the video, but the fact remains that at least one of them hunts bears. I didn't get it at all, personally, and thought it was a very odd way to begin their set. Thankfully the rest of it made up for it.

I'm all for bands personalising their sets for Glastonbury though. This was shit, but it showed they saw the festival as something different from the norm. I give them credit for that, if nothing else.

(Presumably they don't make these sorts of videos for all their festival shows)

They were just acknowledging the publicity around Hetfields bear hunting while having a cheap dig at fox hunting too. All a bit of fun.

    • Audrey Hobert getting a lot of traction lately and new single on Friday. Wonder if she could be round next summer.
    • Think Pulp are optimistic, not in terms of size but just that they've been on the road (albeit not intensively) for 3 years in a row and it feels like EotR is the deliberate end of the cycle.   Would be fairly surprised if they're active next year.
    • 👍 plus they brought their own screens 📺 either side of the stage.
    • Production was the only thing that could even explain why she would back out. Like they had sorted out the financials and she was fine with it and then a production meeting happened. It all fell apart. It was very clear that she was not going to compromise her show one bit and then that show in Brazil pretty much confirmed it. There was like one element they couldnt pull off outdoors, but it was negligible since the rest was a carbon copy of the tour she had been on. Glasto is not willing to make any bold changes on the Pyramid stage so then theyre kinda stuck in terms of what some acts want/demand. I think the easiest solution to that is putting her on Friday. You deal with the changes for one night and then re configure for the rest of the weekend. In 24 they were fortunate to have had Dua and Coldplay on Fri and Sat so they could both use the b stage. But I think it was removed for Sunday?     I saw a random rag article earlier that said Olivia Dean turned down Glasto BECAUSE her ex ( not even confirmed dating ) Harry Styles was playing the fest. hahahaha
