Isn't playing video games the reason why some men are single...?

I'd put that as being over-simplistic. Isn't watching football the reason why some men are single?

Any hobby can put off a prospective partner, but it'll be more to do with the partner's opinion of the "worth" of such usage of time, and how involved/obsessive/passionate that person is regarding the hobby. Video games are a fairly insular pasttime so it's more true for them than it is for many others, but I wouldn't put it so directly as you have.

Sorry, I should have put a winky smiley thing on the end shouldn't I :D

And here was me thinking that you, as someone with the tories in your sig, would be likely to have ridiculous old-fashioned judgmental viewpoints and no awareness of the actual life details :P

why don't you buy a book you've really wanted to read and only read it when you are going through one of these periods to distract yourself.

Good idea. I've sorted all my stuff out since coming back from Leeds & there's a couple of Danny Wallace books I might reread. Also being Xmas soon, plenty of books out & hopefully some decent stand up comedy DVDs.

Thank you, I will check this out.

I can't remember if you've said, but are you living alone?

I have moved back in with my parents but live in a annex flat that the au pair used to use (mum was cabin crew & dad worked abroad) on the side of the house so am alone. They are selling the house soon so have been helping out to keep busy & looking for a bit of work on the side. My mates I've worked out know I'm not in a great place, most are so busy in London, all with long term girlfriends & my two other best mates... one lives in Switzerland & the other is on honey moon in Oz.

I would love to feck off to Bangkok, do full moon party, on my own for three weeks but funds are pretty low.

have you got Tinder? sounds like you've got a nice little shag-pad there.

My understanding is you'd have to be quasimodo not to dip your wick on there.

I do have tinder, just really started to think about getting back into someone else but its been so bloody long since I've had to try. Even thought about asking my ex ex but that's a scary proposition I would have to make.

I just think going through this alone is really hard. Are your parents good company, if you need it?

My father & I didn't get along until I went to uni & grew up. We get on well now.

My mom is a nosy sort & retired so always about but I love her really.

But I'm in my mid twenties now & should have a career & maybe even a house.

My housemates in Leeds were always a bit quiet & only ever went out on special occasions so ended up making friends with the gfs mates so couldn't really hang out with them. Plus the people I worked with were all a bunch of knobs or a bit young. Or lesbian.

Lesbians can be good company!

I used to work as cabin crew so have lots of gay mates who want to take me out & have even offered to let me stay with them but not great for going on the pull.

Edit: I suppose thats not the point of going out really, its to take my mind off the situation, I take that back.

So much this. Going out and spending time with friends is a fantastic way to enjoy yourself and distract from what's upsetting you. Do it. No need to go on the pull to have a good time (in fact sometimes doing so can ruin a night).

You are right, I'm not 18 anymore. & I realised when I was 19/20 or so I ended up making more friends & friends who are a bit more than friends with this attitude.

I'm happy enough to not be with anyone, its just that I know I'm not with that one person I've shared & done so much with & won't be able to do what made me happy again, because mainly it was with her.

Yeah, all makes absolute sense. What you should do though, is keep doing things until you find something else that makes you happy, that you don't need her (or any romantic partner) for.

And w*nking can help serve that purpose while you find other interests :P

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
