With the risk of sounding like your mum, I wonder if we could keep private arrangements to PMs rather than being very vague on here? It could come across as cliquey to new comers and we certainly don't want that!

It can be difficult as most of us know each other in "real" life, but for those that don't, it might look a bit unwelcoming!

Am I making sense? Please don't be annoyed, I don't want to upset anyone, just think that being cloak and dagger about private arrangements is a little off putting to people!

By pre efests do you mean Weds?

I think quite a few are not arriving til late Weds and some Thurs AM hence the Thursday thing.

Anyway folks, the good news is that I am in a better mood than I was an hour and a half ago.

At that time I was bloody cross.

Despite being a card-carrying atheist, I have collected the through-the-door envelopes for Christian Aid every year for many years. Why? Because almost everyone in the World has shag all, and we have loads.

Tonight was my first time collecting in a reasonably nice housing development in the town, and for the first half an hour, my sometimes rather tenuous faith in human nature was plummeting. Don't lie and tell me you didn't get a fucking envelope through the door, because four teenagers and I delivered them on Sunday! Just front it up and indicate, politely that you do not wish to contribute. That's FINE, absolutely no issue whatsoever. No-one should feel obliged to, nor uncomfortable not to. I am polite and lovely and will in no way make you feel uncomfortable. But don't be a mean fucker with your BMW and Audi on your driveway and lie to me so you don't have to put 50p in an envelope to give to people who have fuck all to eat. Always.

Anyhoo, after that ignoble start, things started to improve. People were either very polite givers or entirely polite non-givers. I schmoozed a fair amount of cash out some of them, and charmed the pants off the dog owners with my enthusiasm for things canine and a degree of chutzpah! Overall, a reasonably successful session and my bag of envelopes was nicely weighty.

So, I feel better, and had a word, reminding myself not to be so intolerant...but sometimes I do get a bit animated about such things! Coincidentally am on a 'Human Factors' study day tomorrow, so we'll see if my vitriol has truly quiesced by then!

Bit knackered now, and just making tea for Mrs Ben who has worked three evenings this week, bless her.
