Can't actually remember now who asked about the reason why people didn't get to glasto earlier! Anyway, I grew up in South London, and my parents were middle-class 'climbers', the kind of people who invited friends to dinner so they could spend hours talking about the material possessions they'd got. Growing up with that background in the 80's, the impression I had was that glasto was full of 'undesirables'. There was no way I'd have been allowed to go, whether I wanted to or not. Time went on, and other things were important, uni, working, getting married. I was aware or glasto in the 2000's, because of the increased TV coverage, but I guess I felt that maybe I'd left it a bit late, as all the footage seemed to feature 18 year olds waving at the cameras.

Anyway, fast forward a little to new year 2008/2009. My wife decided to resolve that if she had an opportunity for a new experience, she would say yes. Some friends asked us if we wanted to go to glasto. My wife said yes, while i ummed and aahed about the money, and not knowing the lineup etc. So she went in 2009 and I didn't. That June, she was having a great time, while I sat at home, jealous as hell, watching Bruce, Blur, Nick Cave, Madness, The Specials, Tom Jones etc. on TV. In 2010 I went too, and haven't looked back. I only discovered efests in the run-up to the 2013 fest, and tried but failed to meet up with anyone. Last year I went to both the efests Wednesday meet and the NFR NFC Thursday one, and met dozens of lovely people, really added something special to a festival I already loved. Can't wait for this year's! :)

Sorry to hear that Ben, hope all the patients aren't too badly.

Thanks, Carlos.

Well, we had a nasty RTC with an 11 year old with a not great head injury, but otherwise its just volume - lots and lots of it!

Righty ho, back to it!

Sleep tight all

Ben

Finally I get on to say good evening all!!!

I feel so old! I have managed to build one... I say one! TV cabinet. It is a big one tho I'll give you that! It weighs a ton. It's at times like this I wish I had a partner. Not to build it, just to move the bloody thing. It looks great, will do the others tomorrow.

    • Yeah, that was always a possibility.   We're obviously obsessed with Glastonbury and so assumptions are made when something like that is said. It's unlikely Madonna feels quite as strongly about the festival and so her being excited about something big in the UK next year (or however she phrased it) should really be taken as carrying a lot more possibilities.
    • MGK to headline anyone?
    • Fantastic news.  Not got our settlement car park pass yet, but this gives me hope that it will arrive soon
    • I think they mentioned it in one and interview that the concept of Passport is one thing that differentiates the Sziget from other festival and encourages to explore the site outside music stuff. I doubt they will get rid of it, they might just be late, like they are with everything else.
