    1959

It will be my third this year, I introduced a mate to it last year and he said it was the best five days of his life, in a drunken state one of the nights he thanked me for encouraging him to register and try for tickets, emosh and sentimental times indeed ;)

it's surprising to me how many glasto-goers left it so late to start attending. where were you all? what were you doing the last weekend in every june? do other things actually happen? i know Wimbledon is on, but i hate tennis.

i had an eight year gap in my attendance, so i can't claim continuity, but i did start pretty early and always went with a load of mates back in the day. admittedly it was a lot easier when you didn't need a ticket though!

Help, sentimental moment alert

Next month I shall be going to my 2nd (hopefully of many) Glastonbury Festivals.

Last year I met some fantastic people, some only briefly, and have chatted to loads via the interweb since....... as well as meeting some out there in the real world.

To someone who does not do festivals the following would sound daft - but all you folks are different - in a very good way. Welcoming, open, honest and caring....... even when you might not be feeling yourself (Friday Finbarr intended).

Thank you - I look forward to seeing some of you again soon, some of you again at GF next month and some of you for the first time.

Love and peace

Hi thurlow,

I'm currently trying to think of any noise known to mankind that's more annoying than a whinging 2-year-old. So far Florence Welch is the only one I can think of.

How are you?

I always used to find that if you make more noise than them, they can't sustain the whinging. Joy Division at volume worked, at least you can't hear the little sod with Ian Curtis doing his thing. Mine used to give up quite quickly and just sulk.

Damn no more upvotes.

I like things that make me laugh - and this did.

Anywho....................

To answer Mr Yeti's question about why we started GF so late in life.

Well, life got in the way covers it - the wrong stuff took over and so it never happened and we got sucked into the humdrum of life.

We started our escape 11 years ago and moved to the forest and started to travel........... then we started music and festivals.

Playing catch up really!

Thanks for the suggestion, digger! I thought of trying a bit of Soundgarden or The Clash, but mrs. gumby is working from home, so it's a bit of a non-starter today. Managed to distract him with his brio train set now. Off for a walk to hopefully get him to sleep soon, and with any luck he'll wake up happier!

    • Top 5 acts of the weekend for me: 1. The Cure 2. my bloody valentine  3. caroline 4. Father John Misty 5. Big Thief   Biggest disappointments: - Slowdive (the mixing/sound just wasn’t right, and that was about 20 rows from the front of the stage) - The xx (also too quiet and marred by talkers who had no interest in the music)    Positives from an organisational sense: - extra water point at Mordor this year - handing out ponchos before the rain and ear plugs before mbv    However…two of the water points had ran out on Saturday evening, which is completely unacceptable when you stop people from bringing in large bottles of water, and charge €4.50 at the bars for a 330ml can
