Honestly think they're not stupid, they know the stuff that a rock crowd wants to hear and will adjust their set accordingly. I'd expect something similar to the Leeds 06 headline set with only a couple off the last 2 albums.

Last album has Supremacy, Liquid State,Animals could all get an airing & go down well at Download.

MK Ultra & Uprising from one before would be fine.

Been well publicized they are going for a heavier sound on next album & judging by the festivals they are selecting to play it seems it's true.I'm off to see them at a new German metal festival so you wouldn't imagine they'd choose that without backing it up.

Loved all of it & watching the evolution of the band but it all goes in cycles doesn't it?They've pushed it as far as they can go & I think this next one they will bring the heavy.I think next one could go all Radiohead & alternative like at the start which is fair enough.

I defo do think this album,as a whole, will be heavy. Like I said, you don't choose the festivals they have selected without knowing you will back it up.They aren't stupid.

Not really. Muse are pretty riff heavy even in their recent output, they've just always been marketed a different way. It certainly isn't like Coldplay, Radiohead or U2 playing - it's more like Foos or Chilis.

In what world are Radiohead 'corporate'?

Muse went shit after Hullaballoo. Origin of Symmetry remains one of the best albums ever made. I wouldn't have them down as pretentious fucks like Bono, Coldplay or Radiohead, they just started making shit music. I suppose that's a bit different to Foos and Chillis who just remixed the same record several ways and released it as renamed singles and albums. :)

Arctic Monkeys

Yeah but Arctic Monkeys make good music :P

Nah, I'm pissed off at, and let down by, Arctics for dodging tax, but normally I like to keep all the politics separate from the music. I make an exception with Bono because he swans around acting like a great guy with all his charity work (which totally isn't just an ego/PR boost...) when he's cheating millions of people out money they need to survive, or the NHS funds for life saving equipment, or schools out of funding for important educational material etc.

Anyway, moving on...

Muse are fantastic and their riff heavy stuff is fantastic and they probably would be fantastic at download

it's just something I never really saw ACTUALLY happening. Thought it would come close this year but they'd choose something else over it.
