Not entirely true Neil as you well know that in 2010 , U2 had to pull out and the Gorrilaz took there place. That ain't a small change

it's a small number of changes.

Why do you think Metallica are going to pull out?

And if they do pull out, who do you think the festival might put in their place at short notice?

Regardless of what anyone says nothing is definite untill the lineup is released and even then can be subject to change no?

However I hope it's not Eminem as he makes angry musuic for prepubescent teens. 12 years of whining about your mum and ex missus?

Yeah lets just have mindless speculation on everything eh? No need to let the facts as we know them get in the way ...

and I trust Neil putting something as TBC alot more than someone posting that a big act has decided to do a summer show :P

Why is it that anytime somebody wants to promote a little bit of speculation about the line-up around here they're shot down.

Part of the fun of Glastonbury is the excitement and speculation about headliners...

Yes, it probably is Metallica, but given that the line up hasn't actually been released yet, people are still welcome to consider other options.

Just because high lord Neil has declared it true, and put TBC on his list, doesn't make it actually 100% correct.

Personally I'm excitedly hoping for Foo Fighters, and I'll stop wondering when the Eavis' release the line-up... not Neil.

I don't see why he shouldn't headline, although his live show can be hit and miss. People say he's not what eavis wants at the festival because of his history, however Jay-Z is just as bad in my opinion and has actually shot someone when he was younger.....

And eminem also nowadays has a lot more "pop" songs.

I dont see how eminem is worse than Jay headlining apart from the fact as I mentioned that his live show isn't as good and can be hit and miss.

I don't see a problem with people speculating; the problem is people get defensive about their speculation.

Eminem is certainly more controversial than Jay Z whether he merits it or not. The latter hangs around with Obama and Bono; while Eminem was deemed too controversial for a festival housing many notable junkies and a man that has publicly decapitated bats and doves.

The real question lies in the fact Eminem wasn't booked in his heyday so why would he be booked now? And why would he accept the slot when he usually charges in the millions?

Purely out of interest, what made you decide to come on this site it not for the information the efests website offers? There's dozens of other websites out there that offer similar forum services to talk about Glastonbury. The USP of efests seems to be that it offers information you can't get anywhere else, which has continuously been proved accurate. That's not meant in a volatile attacking way, simply a genuine question.

You make some fair points here, to be honest. Personally, I doubt that Eminem will headline. For one, I'm not sure that his lyrical content fits with the ethos of the Eavis'. The guy's a very clever lyricist and I like his older stuff but something about it just doesn't feel right as Pyramid headline material for me.

I'm not so sure he'll sell out Wembley Stadium these days either. Maybe between 99-02 it would have been a definite.

You keep dreaming about Foo Fighters and don't let anyone kill your buzz! :-)

Oops, sorry I didn't realise that this was a forum with rules about what can and cannot be discussed. Is it really so bothersome to have a thread for a bit of speculation considering the full official line-up hasn't been announced?

As I said in my original post, I'm sure it probably is Metallica, and efests often delivers reliable info but I don't see why people need to get all hot and bothered about somebody speculating on the possibility that it could be another band/person.

It seems that when these discussions do arise they are shut down almost instantaneously... the forum is big enough for plenty of discussion. Those that believe it to be pointless because Metallica is a 100% definite need not comment if they are uninterested :)

No it isnt. For instance there's plenty of discussion already about whether he is still big enough, how much he charges, whether he is morally right etc. Until the festival confirms, it remains a valid point (and even after because it could relate to a future year).

the shadows fit all of that just as much. What about the Tweenies? Bob The Builder? :P

Shall we have a pointless discussion about them too?

If you want to talk Eminem and festivals, perhaps use a festival that would book him rather than one that won't?
