AUSTRALIAN PINK FLOYD

saw them a while ago. Great musicians but I'm not a huge fans of cover bands.

They way they milked the applause at the end you'd have thought they'd written the songs themselves, and no "And thank you to the real pink floyd to writing these songs" from them either.

Not for me. See also, bootleg beatles.

I've seen APF, Brit Floyd and the Classic Rock Show (a spin off where the same team perform stuff other than Floyd like AC/DC and Fleetwood Mac).

Yes they're tribute bands, but if you want to see some classic rock performed very well live with good lighting and staging, you won't do much better.

APF and Brit Floyd don't do the dressing up to look like the originals (unlike say Fleetwood Bac). They just play very well.

It all depends on where you stand on tribute bands. I don't have a problem with them any more than with the LSO playing a bit of Beethoven.

The chances of seeing Roger Water's, Dave Gilmour and Co is non existent so anyone with any fleeting interest in Pink Floyd should go and see the Australian Pink Floyd Show. I remember sitting in Venue Cymru in Llandudno and they played the first bars of The Great Gig in the Sky and remember thinking to myself they will never ever pull this off! Well 4 minutes later the hairs on the back of my neck were still standing. Dumbfounded, awestruck or whatever you want to call it they were really amazing. Note for note perfect. I am not really a fan of cover bands but when a group of musicians can play music which at times is complex in not only in a musical sense but in the sound and feeling then how on earth can you not be moved?

What are the chances of these playing again? I just took a look at their tour dates. In the UK until the end of March and then touring across Europe ending in Switzerland at the end of May, perhaps a months gap until the festivals is too long? Where would they play? I know the Brit Floyd played on the Acoustic the last time. I personally would love this, after seeing the headliners , so far, on Friday and Sunday ( Massive Attack for me on Sunday :) ) i wouldn't mind this at all. Not completly opposed to tribute bands, especailly not at a festival and they are supposed to be very good.

Well, we got to the gig at the O2 last night.

Absolutely extraordinary. They were on from 7:30 until about 10:30 (value for money of what) & would strongly suggest that any doubters of tribute bands or Pink Floyd purists book your tickets now.

We have seen Pink Floyd in 1994 & latterly Brit Floyd (who were also spot on) again at the O2 & at Glasto in 2011. APF put on a special effects & light show comparable with the PF 1994 Earls Court concert.

An encore & standing ovation ensued.

Say no more.

If they weren't note perfect people would complain (not a patch on the real sound or what's with Waltzing Matilda?)

If they are note perfect it's "You might as well put on a CD."

They can't win.
