Coldplay?

Although it wouldn't be received very well on here I wonder now that the Prince rumour is dead if there will be another headliner and that it could be Coldplay. With Coldplay having a new album out in May and already being Glastonbury groupies it may be a possibility. As said it would bring a huge amount of disapointment for many on here, but for many of the people who will attend the festival and watch it on TV it would be a very popular and must see booking. Whether or not there will be another headliner though is not at all certain, with Arcade Fire on the Friday, Kasabian Sunday and currently the Eagles floating around ready to be dropped in somewhere maybe there won't.

I think 6 years is around the usual gap that it is 'acceptable' for glasto to invite a headliner back. I know Coldplay did 2002&5 but that's because they had a massive rise in popularity. My guess is that they'll never do it again because they are trying to become 'experimental' and I think that will mean their popularity rapidly decreases.

I think the difference is that Radioheads experimenting has results for the most part. Coldplay still sound like a group of students 'finding' themselves on a gap year - they should have stopped after Rush of Blood to the Head!

And yeah, it's probably too soon for them to return (I hope) xD

Didn't they say on the bbc coverage in 2011 that Coldplay thought the festival was probably sick of them by now, so that was probably the last time they'd play. I don't like them at all, but even if I did I wouldn't really see the point in having the same headliner back, headlining the same stage just 2 festivals later.

I thought they done a fine job in 2011. I hadn't planned to be there, but enjoyed the night all the same, my kids really enjoyed it and we were around good people, best night of the festival that year, I thought.

I don't think they would be a good choice this year though.

I actually dont mind that new tune too much TBH. (Only listened to it there for the first time) Id prefer it without the "singing" and I felt it should "kick in" but surprisingly no blood came from my ears. It is however very much an album filler tune, so if this is the best they can do "experimentally" I dont think this new album will be up to much.

I always forget they were there, Elbow just before them were way better, Coldplay phoned it in by comparison. Loved it on the telly in one of the years I failed to get a ticket (2005?) but all a bit blando nowadays.

And that's from someone hoping it s the Eagles :)

    • Very different in terms of time of game,  yet remember how excited I was before the first game in Euro 2016 having grown up not sure I would ever see wales in an international tournament. That day scraped a win against Slovakia and was just happy to see wales score and win at a tournament, little did I know we would finish in the top 4. Hope Scottish fans get the same experience.
