Underwhelmed at the line up ..... but I will go for my one trip back home a year to catch up with friends and have a giggle with mates that would never ever go to Glastonbury. There's enough there to mix with cider and keep me entertained for just 2 days

Killers again ... really ! The only good thing is that I really do like them live and two friends who are joining us have never seen them live so for that reason I am in

Plenty of bands on the line up that will also play Glastonbury - and fingers crossed the stage splits for V will come out before Glasto so that if there are any bands I want to see I'll 'book ' them in for V and see someone else at Glasto, where there is much much much more choice :-)

That is a truly awful excuse for a festival - how they charge a similar amount to Glastonbury for only 2 days is beyond me! The only acts I would even consider are Elbow, Embrace, Manics and Blondie and I've seen them all countless times before but I don't get why people seem to think that V's always been shit and shake it off as the norm. I went in 2001 and 2004 and the lineups were nothing like it.

Here's 2001's lineup - barring Embrace and Starsailor who are playing again, only Atomic Kitten, Kylie and Nelly Furtado would fit in with the current dross on offer

V Stage: Texas, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Charlatans, Foo Fighters, Coldplay, David Gray, Faithless, Placebo, Embrace, Neil Finn, Nelly Furtado, Idlewild, The Spooks, Powderfinger, Jimmy Barnes, Witness

WTV Stage:, Muse, Toploader, JJ72, The Divine Comedy, Shed Seven, Doves, Wheatus, Public Image Limited, Starsailor, Ben Folds, Nina Persson, Spearhead, Webb Brothers, Phoenix, Turin Brakes, Snow Patrol, Ed Harcourt, Ben's Symphonic Orchestra, Lifehouse (Hylands Park only), Santa's Boyfriend (Weston Park only)

JJB Puma Arena: Kylie Minogue, Ian Brown, The Avalanches, Grandaddy, Mos Def, Tricky, Alabama 3, Sparklehouse, Zero 7, Rea and Christian, Atomic Kitten (Weston Park only both days), Red Snapper (Hylands Park only both days), Hooverphonic, Alfie, Big Dog, The Bush The Tree And Me, Relish

Slinky Dance Tent: Daniel Bailey, Andy Passman, Garry White, Scott Nuskool, Matt Cassar, Marc Vedo, Dave Lea, John Dale

So The Killers are set to play their 4th headline set at V in 7 years?

Just had a look through the past line ups; before 2000 it was always pretty good.

to be honest it's only really in the past five or so years that it took a real nosedive into awfulness. before that, it wasn't great, but there was definitely enough bands playing to keep you occupied. mad to think that Radiohead have headlined V. imagine the reaction from the regulars if they were booked for it now*

*all this said, i totally get why it (maybe) changed - to differentiate itself from the other festivals, and what were there none of? pop festivals. if V is what's needed to keep some of that dross away from Glastonbury etc then i fully welcome it

The thing is V is always the same its our tastes that change... it pics the popular acts of the time

it always looks great when we are 16-19ish then it just looks like dross apart from a few acts, as our tastes change and experience with festivals we realise that really V is just quite awful

Disagree.. The V lineup has deteriorated since mid 2000's with an influx of 'radio 1' (for want of a better phrase) acts.. As someone earlier said, they've done so to differentiate themselves from other big festivals.. It's a bloody awful festival..

I went in 04, 06 & 07 & the atmosphere changed each time, more & more Herbert's showing up..

Did V Stafford in 2010 NEVER again far too many piss throwing dickheads. One such dick head filled his cup behind my and was about to launch it and I managed to knock it over him much to his disbelief. He thought better of starting somethong becase a) I am a big lad and could be quite imposing if my backs against a wall and B) all his mates and people around us thought it highly amusing so situation was soon diffused

On the flipside least likely is Human League and M People.....no one should be made to listen to M People, ever though perversely I wouldn't mind Human League in the hope that they'd do Together In Electric Dreams which is if you believe in guilty pleasures, my ultimate one.

(Gets coat...)

Unbelievably 10 years ago The Pixies sub-headlined V festival and The Strokes and Muse headlined, sure was a different festival back then. I remember going in 2003 and QOTSA played in the middle of the afternoon on the Saturday on the main stage, that was after Id just watched The Distillers on the second stage !

Typical V line up. A fair few of those will be at Glastonbury , but they will be offset by the good stuff at Glastonbury.

Out of that list I'd like to see

Elbow

The Wailers

Blondie

The rest I wouldn't stop to watch if I was walking past with nowhere to go, but I'm not silly enough to think a fair few won't crop up at Glastonbury.

Not that I have a ticket for this year yet anyway, so it probably won't matter to me.

:banghead:

With Elbow playing so low down at both V Festival and T in the Park, will they even sub headline at Glastonbury? Surely they will?

Elbow are headlining the 2nd stage at V.

Still not 100% on where they'll be at Glasto, but there's been more than one thing tell they'll play before AF ... it was the Daily Star saying last week that's where they were playing that had them moved into that slot in the efests rumours.

i'm interested to know what these 'good' acts are that people are talking about? apart from Manic Street Preachers, Janelle Monae and one or two from further down that looks like a truly shocking lineup to me

edit: oh and Justin Timberlake as well (but that's obvious)

you say you can't recognise the good acts, but you think JT is one of them?
