Huge fan yeah. Waited for them in the pit in Rock Am Ring a few years back for 11 hours with no food for them to come on. But they're playing away from home at Glasto. Other Stage would've been different. Pyramid, Im not so sure.

They played at a benefit gig last night in California and this was the setlist :-

1. I Just Want to Celebrate (Rare Earth Cover)
2. When a Blind Man Cries (Deep Purple Cover)
3. In My Life (The Beatles Cover)
4. Diary of a Madman (Ozzy Osbourne Cover)

Bizarre but fascinating all the same.

Anyway, their next gig is at the end of the month in Helsinki - be interesting to see a sample of their European tour setlist when it happens.

their European tour setlists are the 'by request' ones so wouldn't look too much in to them (although our setlist won't be vastly different as they're basically all 'greatest hits' setlists)

Reading this thread makes me wonder about some people, if you don't like Metallica so what? Go do something else, I didn't watch one of the headliners last time (2011) as they were all awful. Still had an amazing time, its glasto after all!

When I saw them at soni they played for what seemed like about a week, but in actuality it was about 2 and a half hours i think

They play long shows. I'd be shocked if it was under two hours.

I've been following this thread for a while and then I remembered I actually have an account on here

Being a fan of metal I'm chuffed to bits Metallica are playing. I've only been to Glastonbury the once before and I went knowing it doesn't really cater for the heavier end of rock, its was fantastic non the less even though I'm told 2008 wasn't a great year.

I have to chuckle at those questioning if they're headline worthy, they've sold literally 10x the amount of albums as the other two headliners have combined and there aren't too many bands that still sell out arenas and stadiums after 30 years.

I think the crowed will be fine, a lot of people that go will be into them to various degrees as demonstrated in this thread. They always put on an awesome show anyway so even if you're not a die hard fan its worth a watch.

Also, I've seen a number of posts suggesting "One" is a ballad. That is utter nonsense. Don't be fooled by the intro. That's the heaviest song they still play on a regular basis. Definitely NOT a ballad.
