I've never been refused time off work as anual leave, ever. If I was told that I couldn't have the time off I would go to the festival anyway. I'd just go to the doctors and play the stress card. In fact, in all likelihood I'd punish my employers by making a meal of it and having several weeks off on the sick.

I have just been informed my end of year uni exams will take place either in the first two weeks or final two weeks of June, what if it's the final two weeks? I am going by coach so do I have to collect my ticket on the Wednesday on the coach or would I be able to collect it another way if I explained to the festival?

There is zero chance of me missing Glasto and if that means missing one exam then so be it.

Missing a week off work is one thing. Potentially screwing up your entire career by threatening your grade for a degree you've worked three years for is insane. There will be other Glastonburys. Unless it is not going to have any bearing on your final degree grade, do the damn exams!

I know, I know. The thought I might miss it makes me actually well up right now, I just can't imagine missing the festival. Do you think the festival would allow me to arrange to collect my ticket on site if one of my exams falls on one the festival dates? It would only be one exam that could potentially be during the festival/.

My previous employer seemed to take delight in trying to prevent me from going, one year they said I could have 2 weeks off around the festival but had to work the saturday. I told them that was fine, they could have my resignation. I got the holiday.

One year in the 80's I was teaching at St Georges Medical School London and my trips to Glastonbury was booked one year in advance { I would be due back on the following Wednesday } - one year on my last day ' within one hour of leaving ' the Dean showed up and he wanted me to give a lecture on the Monday Morning - I burst out laughing and told him there is no way in hell could I guarantee that I could get back for Monday morning as the car parks were chock a block { and impossible to leave on the Sunday - well that is what I told him } so if he wanted me back he would have to hire a helicopter - he had a little think - ' well lets put it back to the week after '.
If a employer has been given one year advance notice and they have accepted the holiday allocation then its unreasonable for them to try and change things on the last day but of course I had a lifetime Tenable University Contract so could not be sacked unless I killed someone - its very rare for many to have this type of contract these days.
that was the only year where I was asked to change my holidays.
