I just find the idea that you'd plan for any lineup-oriented festival before seeing it bizarre, regardless of how good it's been in recent years.

Yeah I agree. Well, I'd plan in advance (as I am with Leeds), on the proviso that the lineup's okay, but I wouldn't book tickets and that, so that if it ends up shite I'm not £200 with a shite festival to look forward to.

I'm considering Download (already bought), T, Soni, Werchter and Leeds as well as Belladrum and a few smaller fests. I've got a feeling it's going to be Download, Soni and Leeds for my major fests. This saddens me as it's a fucking long way to all of them, I live north of Inverness. I dread to think what my total music budget is a year.

Definitely doing Reading again next year, bit of a mandatory pilgrimage for me. If work keep me on after Christmas then I'll be checking the Latitude and Bestival line ups, possibly even Sonisphere if the headliners are good.

So it's official then, Sonisphere have got Metallica and Iron Maiden. I know both are repeats, and neither have been that difficult to see in recent times, but I'll be very surprised if the festival doesn't sell out with those two headlining.
