Wonder what prompted the SR status. Were they down as rumour in the first place or is it "brand new information" I really hope they play and am clutching at any kind of festival straw

Pretty sure they were down as a rumour.. SR is brilliant news if it actually happens!! Not sure where its stemmed from though not complaining

Weren't they "SR" for a while last year as well? Not getting my hopes up until it changes to "TBC".

Yep.

There was a strong chance of them playing last year - there was (so we heard) talk between Glasto and the band - but for whatever reasons it didn't happen.

The same "didn't happen" might happen again this year for all we know, but from what we're hearing it's looking a good possibility.

The band were recently quoted as saying they wanted to play but weren't asked last year.

YES! Very exciting. Provided, of course, that I get a ticket. Wonder where they'll be placed?

You all coming up t'North to see them in Manchester this month. That will definitely be FR NFC over those Pennines.

Just had to check I hadn't imagined that quote about them not being asked last year. This is what Matt said:

The National used the stage at London's Roundhouse to reveal that they weren't allowed play the Glastonbury festival which takes place this weekend.

Frontman Matt Berninger introduced High Violet track "England" by saying, "This one's dedicated to anyone heading to Glastonbury tomorrow..... We wanted to play but we were refused."

That's one way of putting things I suppose. :P

I think Matt said at their gig around the time that "they didn't want us", what I assume happened is that 10 minutes later he covered his mouth and wispered "on the same terms that we wanted in order to play".

EDIT: proven wrong again.

That's not quite how it was either.

Anyway, no matter. Fingers crossed that it works out better for them this time around.

    • Latest from the sun at least is that harry is still headlining but Olivia has turned down a spot next year to work on new music and hope for 2028.   So they can't have Fender, Fontaines, Harry, Olivia and Madonna.
    • I mean I don't think EC and FFDP are borderline sub, they wouldn't be any lower now.   2025 is about as strong as Bloodstock gets yet this year only one headline would sub and the others would play 3rd down or lower.    Machine Head wouldn't sub at Download regardless of rarity, they don't sell enough tickets and I'm not sure Gojira would sub either. Their last UK tour was a mix of smaller arenas and academy dates. Ally Pally being the only London date, not even Wembley Arena.
    • live music / main stage will generally end around 11pm but theres dj’s and late goings on right till 4am if you are so inclined.   Drinks are about £7.50 a pint probably and yes theres lots of mixed drinks / spirits / cocktails available to buy   wonderful festival, back for my third year in a row and 4th overall
    • If anyone sees Lakefest this weekend on any sites please post here, I’ve got alerts set. Been on TFG in recent years and not sold out yet.
