Add me to the Brixton Academy fan list - and for central London the bar is pretty standard prices I think. Also big a fan of Koko, Blackpool Empress & Blackburn St Georges. Manchester Bridgewater Hall is lovely for the right type of concert too.

Worst venue; Preston Guild Hall for a rock gig... it just doesn't work.

Shepherd's Bush Empire, especially the first balcony....

Kentish Town Forum

Brixton Academy

Only been to Koko twice, but that's good

Festival Hall

Nashville Rooms when it was around

most pub venues

Madame Jojo's

Ally Pally is horrendous. I've never experienced anything close to a decent sound there, or the O2 arena...

He does play a variety of venues depending on what he's doing at the time. I've seen him at the RAH, Hammersmith Apollo, and a handfull of Arenas over the past 15 or so years.

My favourites-

The Olympia in Dublin

Rock City in Nottingham

Not a huge fan of most of the London venues mentioned so far, including the now closed ones. Might just be because they get London crowds who in my experience are far more likely to talk through performances.

Surely though all "rock" venues have to start off as new at some point? Maybe a point on posh and sterile but venue isn't going to be deliberately built smelly and sticky are they? :P

Oh I didn't mention the Garage!! Great venue really, pleasant staff, can see from the back mostly. Nice and Intimate and doesn't overfill for its bigger gigs like smaller venues tend to.

Is that really the case? Or is the "London crowds are shit" jibe that is inevitably wheeled out at some point in these discussions just a bit of a cliche.

I've been to gigs in plenty of places, although the majority is definitely in London, but I can't say I notice too much difference in crowds around the country.

    • Israel and Lebanon agree to a ceasefire...problem is Hezbollah, and problem with Hezbollah is Israel. Israel should withdraw, put onus solely on Hezbollah...who are already weakened, which would then strengthen credibility of the Lebanese govt. But with Netanyahu in charge that is unlikely.
    • I saw that the payment method is contactless wristbands - I understand you collect them at the festival site and can top them up there as well? Yes, there are top up points, keep the recepe if you want to withdraw the money in the end   How much does food and drink usually cost at the festival? We would like to know how much money we should prepare for the festival. Beer, Wine etc. 5€, Gin tonic, Whishkey Cola were 6-6.5€, food 10€    Is there a bus from the festival site to the city center? And are there any stops along the way? No offical info yet, but ussualy there are free festival buses from Ljubljanica to festival site, with few stops on the way. Nice to get to the festival but crowded from festival back to the city.   Where is the best place to find an Uber/Bolt to return from the festival site? Petrine ulica   Are there any shaded areas to take a break from the strong sun? Yes, i think there is some.
