Can't even imagine this place in 2005. Was it an IRC chat room?

Not much different to how it is now really, apart from most regulars on here now weren't on here back then, and vice versa for the regulars back then. And there was the legendary Olivavu as well. I'd be interested to read his views on this year's line-up, to say the least!

Played three songs off it when I saw them the other week, which is very generous on their part as they only usually seem to play one (in a setlist normally comprised of about 22-25 songs)

Yeah I follow the MSP thread in the Glasto section, sounds like it was a good setlist for you fans!

I recently got The Holy Bible which I really like, but haven't listened to anything else, and I hear most of it is dirge.

THB was my first album of theirs but that was about 10 years ago :P Generation terrorists is a great one. Basically anything before Rewind the film I think is truly great stuff. Futurology, from what I heard live, doesn't sound too promising though

I thought they were pretty good even with the shift in direction. Know Your Enemy was where it seemed like they ran out of ideas, to me anyway. I think the last three have been okay though.

Well I loved everything George and including Podtcards from a young man. However, I do agree Know Your Enemy wasn't a great album, easily the one before Postcards that I like the least amount of songs from

THB is definitely their best, one of the greatest albums ever. But they still have some amazing other albums.

The Holy Bible

Generation Terrorists

Gold Against The Soul

Everything Must Go

Send Away The Tigers

Journal For Plague Lovers

Rewind The Film

This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours

Postcards From A Young Man

Know Your Enemy

Lifeblood

My order of preference, from best to worst. Proceed listening to the bottom four with caution.

Postcards was alright, some good songs on there but overall I found it to be one of their weaker albums. It just sounded like typical Everything Must Go-lite Manics-by-numbers. Whereas Rewind The Film for me was a really interesting album to listen to, it sounded more ambitious and experimental.

That said, It's Not War... was the best single they'd done in years.

Do Tool still not do screens for their festival shows?

It'd be interesting to see if RATM are in the mix next year; would be clearer if LA Rising was going ahead but I don't reckon that looks likely. Stone Roses might be in the mix for festivals if their 2015 album comes out. I'd also say if there's a reunion then it'll be Led Zeppelin and if there is a year that they play Glastonbury, it'll be next year - not convinced it'd happen but if there was a year is all I'm saying.

    • My party again had an outstanding 4 days in Barca. We made the right call to leave the festival site early at about 10.30 on Thursday to get ourselves some excellent steaks in the city. I am with everyone that the organization should have been clearer about what is going on and also if you would like to get rid of some attendees open more exits, they sent us from gate to gate until we finally were able to get out. Biggest 'disappointment' was the beer price, a YoY increase from 5 to 6 is absolutely nuts!!! (i am living in Switzerland so me making this comment says something 🙂)   Top 10:   1. Men I Trust 2. Role Model (could have been first as well, what a great artist and great songs) 3. The XX 4. The cure (the last 90 minutes) 5. Gorillaz 6. MBV 7. Ninajirachi (another big miss of the organization, clearly on the wrong podium and wonder if Olivia's surprise set had something to do with that and they had to reschuffle late the Occident, Cupra and Port schedules) 8. NewDad 9. Big Thief 10. Annastashia      We did 3 years Barca now and for next year looking at the Porto or Bilbao festivals as an option.
    • Personally if it was me now, I would be grabbing a green camping ticket with the knowledge closer when I've refreshed that I can still choose general if I want to....you can't do the opposite!    I would say if you are happy to watch your headliners and big bands further back to be able to see who you actually plan to later then yes it is fine. Its a much difference experience to any other festival especially food wise and camping surrounds.    Once you're in the arena as well you're not going back unless you've got a gap. If I go again I'll be going with the option of not trying to push the front and enjoying further back as you actually put too much pressure on it than the time take away can forget to enjoy other acts.
    • No complaints about the sound. We were like 2nd set of steps facing stage right in like the middle row.
    • On the whole then, yay or nay...I've had a look on festivals united and there's people who seem converted by Rock Im Park, I can imagine it might be different if it was a washout as RaR is tarmac.   The hotel side would be more to convince the non campers if it's an option. On my first visit to rock am ring we were shuttled into the area where you could stick the car next to the tent which was fantastic as it meant zero lugging of camping gear.
