Come on, though. Do you look at Biffy and say "yep, they've made it and are here to stay"? Bands do drop from headline status.

I'm a big biffy fan so I'm biased but I do think they have. It was fairly organic with them working up the ladder and the majority of my mates aren't really into music but they all seem to accept Biffy as a huge band. Four major UK festival headline slots and two arena tours done now also so it wasn't like The Darkness esque or anything.

No, not really, but Biffy have always been hard workers. I'm confident that they'll keep at it and that yeah, they will bolster themselves as here to stay. A Glasto headline slot would do wonders for them in that regard.

I couldn't see Biffy still headlining major fests in four years time, personally. They'll never reach the heights that Only Revolutions took them to again.

It wasn't until opposites did they first achieve the headline slots though so I dont agree with that Edited by Shikari20

That's played up a bit much. They did rocket from middle of the card to headlining with a couple of radio friendly albums and big anthems that people fell in love with so while they did work their way up half the way, they coasted the rest. I'm sure people thought the same about Franz Ferdinand when they'd done arena tours and festival headline slots but they couldn't ride on their first album forever and dropped down the lineups. Biffy's most recent album did hit number one obviously as it was highly anticipated from the massive fanbase they'd accrued but they didn't create massive songs like they had before and I honestly can't see them doing that again which is why I think it'll be far too long since OR to headline by 2019.

I know most of this is just beliefs and stuff but I never claimed this was anything more than personal opinion so I'm allowed. :P

Maybe, but we don't know if they'll headline Glastonbury do we? It'd be easy and a reward for good ties with the festival but I don't think they'll struggle for more attractive options.

No not really. They had been signed up to headline R+L way before Opposites was released so I can't see it being off the back of any of that.

I think Biffy can keep their headline status if their next album doesn't flop

Also tryanicide mentioned this in The Lock UP thread but Daniel P Carter may been announcing a few names tomorrow on the Rock Show but that could be reading into it a bit

Who are we expecting in the pit this year? While she sleeps have a new album coming out would make a dece headliner

I don't think While She Sleeps will play this year but and I'm not sure on the headliners (we've got Refused though so I'm happy with that) but I'd say Bury Tomorrow could sub one of the days. I'd also say The Meznigers are very likely too but you're best off just checking out The Lock Up 2015 thread for some ideas

Yeah that does seem more realistic, also their latest singles seem to be not as heavy as their old stuff so it would work

Well they did play the main in 2013 so I don't think that is really relevant

EDIT: I did say something about how The Pit acts are a bit difficult to predict for high positions as they could play low/mid main but that is the case for a lot of stages

    • So bad honestly. I get that bad weather happens but their communication was non existent. When you're managing crowds of tens of thousands of people, it's just not good enough. I left when Massive Attack was cancelled (the first time) and it genuinely did feel unsafe trying to get out. No one knew what was going on, people still sitting in the ground when there were hoards of people trying to leave, no crowd management at all...   I've been to PS enough times to know sometimes you need to just roll with it but this was way worse than "the bar queue was 30 minutes long".    Today will be better but still feel super disappointed.
