It's only a small venue (for a headline sized act) though right? I think headlining IOW is gonna have more of a say in whether they do R+L than that.

True but they've since had a number one album (potentially two I can't remember the dates), headlined Glastonbury, played Victoria Park and had an arena tour pretty much sell out within a day. They're just as big as draw as pretty much all the headliners they've had, bar The Stones.

I don't think R&L would have them back so soon, even with a new album. It's needlessly repetitive when there are a whole bunch of acts they could book who would serve the same audience and didn't headline three years ago.

Good points but it still means BST getting Kasabian over V or IOW, which may as well mean V and IOW didn't bother trying to get them.

If i told you I knew The Libertines are 100% are at Glastonbury what would you all say?

Did a friends uncle's mate has a cousin who knows someone at the pub who has a sister who has a mate who has a cousin twice removed who works with someone who has a mum that knows someone at the local Tesco that works for Glastonbury festival in the site management department tell you?

They wouldn't headline glastonbury, so if you're right (which i'm very skeptical about) they've probably accepted a lower slot than reading would give them.

How do you figure they wouldn't headline Glastonbury/would headline R+L? I imagine, if true, they weren't offered R+L headline in the first place and were able to do lower slots. And if they were headlining at one and subbing at the other it'd be Glastonbury where they topped the bill.

Quite plausible anyway. Cheers for bringing it to our attention Liam.

    • An interesting thing this. Having seem them several times (some of their gigs veer into back catalogue niche territoty), I partly agree they arent Pyramid material (theough modern defeinition of 'bangers' although I could see them headlinging the Other stage) I can't think of another festival in the world that they couldn't headline - Reading, IoW, BST, Rock Wercheter, Roskilde, etc etc.
    • Ohhh it’s very, very good.
    • I'm sure you like silly music too but is it because it's not a Download traditional type act it gets looked down on? Rock am Ring booked them, and they sell every year so don't actually need to   Andy going and being replaced is the best thing that could have happened to Download, someone fresh to mix it up a bit rather than just a complete rotation. The only reason Andy booked ST in ti headline too was because he loves them and he was going on to manage them. Nah, Andy booked FOB in a year where over 20 acts were asked, I'll guarantee if they get Blink and having had Green Day they did not need 20 bands to come to those. FOB are also not one that have been booked in Europe to headline by anyone other than Reading as co-headliner as far as I can see. They weren't a ooh god yes they've booked FOB.
    • Would love to see them headline as well, but agree with Mr Bailey ☹️
    • I think it's just a slight shift in target audience of the festival, Andy also booked FOB    A lot of young people (me included) are nostalgic for the 2000's pop punk and nu metal rather than the 80's legacy bands    It's just the festival moving with the times I think Andy would of done the same    Although they are still booking some legacy acts like GNR but that doesn't seem to have gone well ticket sales wise
