i don't usually go along with Matt's strange theories but that's kind of how i saw it as well (for no particular reason). thought they were nailed on for R/L tbh so it hadn't even crossed my mind that Glastonbury might be an option for them. bit underwhelming if true

edit: ah just noticed he didn't say headlining, although i assumed that's where they'd play

What I mean really is that Glastonbury are very unlikely to have a major festival headliner in a lower slot at the festival because of the exclusivity and pay and what not, and it's happened more times that it's the other way round like a V sub or a TITP sub headlining Glastonbury. So I couldn't really see The Libertines being a R+L headliner but not big enough for Glastonbury headliner.

I sort of get the feeling they might have not been offered headline at R+L so they're doing sub/equivalent at both Glastonbury and Reading and Leeds... if this is true of course. We were pretty sure they were doing R+L a week or so ago because of that newspaper article plus they're strongly rumoured on here.

I can't believe he actually used Photobucket

Nothing wrong with it!

Will likely sub Glastonbury than headline I guess, they didn't sell all 3 Ally Pally Dates did they? (Can't remember about BST but I only use not selling that out to slate Taylor Swift =p).

Kind of makes sense Reading would wait to have them , if the album is any good/glastonbury is triumph they become headliners.

    • Doesn't surprise me. West Yorkshire had a vote if they wanted a mayor in 2012 and voted no. The government then ignored the vote and announced the position anyway in 2016.

    • Also agree, it does feel that there isn’t much between the Mercury Prize and the Brit Awards these days.   This part sums it up for me “The complaint isn’t so much about the quality of the music, but more the disappearance of spaces for outsider voices in British music. With streaming algorithms feeling increasingly geared towards big names, and social media acting as a minefield, the Mercury’s pivot to the mainstream closes another door in the face of creative independence.”
