You're colleague is telling porkies, The Simpsons ride replaced Back To The Future, E.T is still going strong.

I must apologise, I have mis-remembered, she did say Back To The Future. Sorry to keep derailing the thread with this, but I just couldn't allow myself to have unwittingly defamed a totally anonymous and untraceable woman on the internet, it's just not my style and I couldn't live with the guilt.

No I'm pretty sure this is the most on-topic it's been in a long while.

Could Linkin Park sub Metallica? I mean it's not unheard of for a Download headliner to sub at R+L and they'll likely be without a UK festival date next year if they don't, as I don't reckon they'd both headline. Looking at the Las Vegas Rock in Rio bill made me think of it as they're subbing them there so they might not be a band who demands headline slots everywhere - though I don't know about here in Europe.

don't make that argument - people here HATE it when you suggest LP aren't an out and out headliner

(it's entirely plausible)

That'd be a surefire way for R&L to ruin a decent headliner so yeah, they probably will.

See also: The Cure and QOTSA.

Oh it was Paramore both times. Of course.

I don't think I've ever heard it mentioned, except when somebody suggested 30STM/Linkin Park coheadline bc they coheadlined a tour in the US. But now I mention that it might just be a US thing. Might be able to pull it off anyway but the other subs would have to be Jamie T and Neck Deep.

I mentioned it like 2 months ago and was MILITANTLY SHUT DOWN

It's an interesting theory, but I think unlikely. There's a difference between system who were on the end of a reunion hype tour and had already headlined festivals at the beginning of it and Linkin park who are still charting successfully with new albums. Not impossible, but I would think that would be unlikely.

Its possible to be fair, but I think Linkin Park may allow their egos to get in the way and question why theyd sub Metallica when they've already headlined alongside them in 2003.

I know it will have been 12 years but egos don't always dwindle over time.

There's an interview somewhere about how they wanted to play Glasto for free and not even as headliners so they don't seem to be headliner or nothing type band.

The difference here lies in that the band might wanna play where they want and not have egos about it but the management might prefer the bigger headline deals instead.

I think it's more to do with apart from RAWK fests no one else is intrested in having them on their bill headline or not.

My take on it is if they are gonna play R&L this year then it will be as headliners.

What about HAIM?

Edit: Haven't seen them around much in this thread and if they tour again surely they will return

If they are toruing in the late summer they could end up at V or R&L. They don't really get mentioned as most people on here aren't fans.

    • Muse will be about but the issue with Muse is that they’ll have the pick of doing IOW, BST, Glasto, R&L or big parks/stadiums.

    • Not sure what this means for 2027 but it looks like Holt Farm's website and email are both now inactive and unavailable.   It'll be a shame if they don't operate for 2027 as it was an excellent alternative to the other off-site offerings.   Fingers crossed they're just enjoying their downtime 🤞
    • Deftones, Blink, Muse?   Deftones as the next bump up makes all the sense, Blink as the "band that has never played before" and round out with Muse as its been a long time since they headlined and they have a new album coming which seems on the heavier side from the singles so far.   I could see Muse do their own tour to be fair, maybe MCR in their place? Could also see Deftones switched out for Slipknot/SOAD depending on who is about.
    • I have no issue with the Primavera crowd in most respects. They’re always friendly, respectful and no hint that there could be trouble at any point.   However…the talking is horrific here. The xx was pretty much ruined for me due to people having conversations with their mates the whole way through. Noticed it from all different nationalities across the weekend…English, Irish, Spanish etc. There seems to be no understanding of the nuances of when it’s okay to talk and when it isn’t. And obviously the sound being quiet at a lot of spots on the main stages exacerbates the issue. That alone has made me reconsider whether I will be coming back, it would probably take a lineup as good as this year (unlikely)
