I 100% agree. 2008 and 2010 were the strongest for me.

i can see people's liking for 2008 but I thought 2010 had a bit of everything. Extremely helped out by two reforms no doubt and a Weezer appearance. But the weather was decent too.

Didn't help for 2008 that in the end, Slipknot pulled out and A7X didn't perform

No Doubt didn't play in 2010 :P

I'd say it helped a lot that A7X didn't perform.

Do you think The Vaccines could get to headline status by 2015? It's not outside the realms of possibilities but I wouldn't like that to happen til 2016 at the earliest tbh

edit; and BMTH playing third, with Shikari subbing, that's an insult to Rage :(

Yeah I think they could man. If their next album goes to number one and they have a couple of singles that get loads of airplay, and a proper arena tour since they've done the one O2 date, I think they will be given the step up.

And hahaha, you could swap BMTH and The Offspring if it makes you feel better :P I know I put Shikari third down on my 2014 lineup but I genuinely think they will take a year off in 2014 and return with a new album in 2015 to sub.

I think Vaccines will be back next year or 2015 to sub and they'll take at least a year between their sub spot and headline. Or that would make more sense to me anyway.

I don't think Shikari are ready to play third or sub yet either. I think they'll headline NME, possibly next year. Then take a year out. Then play third. Then sub.

But of course this is Festival Republic and Shikari will probs be headlining by 2015

I think they could one day sub. But I can't ever see them headlining. YMA6 that is.

Did anybody else see the Biffy interview where Simon said there's no shame in going back down the lineup after headlining? That's a great attitude considering how many artist you get who are up their own backsides. Although, I can't see Biffy NOT headlining the next time they play, especially if their next album has the same success as Opposites.

Reckon The Vaccines will sub next year, then return to headline in 2016, with Muse and Radiohead, to balance out the awesomeness. 8)

I'm joking, but I do think they'll sub next year and maybe headline in 2016, with Muse maybe, but not Radiohead.

I agree. Can see Vaccines subbing Arctics with bands like Courteneers, Palma Violets, TDCC, Joy Formidable filling up the main.

    • Never too early to start discussing next year’s headliners right?   I’m not attending this year so thought I’d get the ball rolling as I saw Weezer have a new album out in August I’d expect them to do this or Slam Dunk next year. I mean they’re probably too big for this however I think they’re niche enough that they would maybe do it, it just depends on if the fee is a bit out of range for trees.    It’ll be the 20th anniversary next year so I’d expect some throwbacks and hopefully some big headliners/acts. James has already said he’s made a mad booking that you wouldn’t guess & I think he mentioned that he’s spent something like 80% of this years budget of next years top line already on last weeks 2 promoters 1 pod (Don’t quote me on that).    I reckon they’ll try for and get at least two (not all) of the following - Enter Shikari, AFI, Weezer, Sex Pistols Feat Frank Carter, Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls
    • for some reason last night watched series one of Prey on Netflix.   if Legends was written by Timmy Mallet (see above) then Prey seems to have been made by Mr Blobby.   why are all these British crime dramas so sh*t?
    • It'll be all over various Seatfillers based upon previous years at Sandringham
    • The Jayhawks 2026 UK Tour    Sept 15 – Brighton – Corn Exchange  Sept 16 – London – Electric Ballroom Sept 17 – Manchester – Academy 2 Sept 18 – Glasgow – The Garage    For you ‘americana’ lovers. They have a great song book.
    • Weezer just announced a new album & US tour so could add them to the headliner pool. Imagine they’ll do this or trees
