I don't take much of an issue with it but I think the difference is the social media and that Twitter has made it possible for her to have millions of followers hanging on her every word. Keith never had that, back then they were just stories. It's still rockstar behaviour all the same but the way someone like Rihanna can directly upload pictures of her doing drugs or using racial terms or whatever has more of an effect doesn't it?

I think their name usually gets thrown out because of the Roskilde incident and the reluctance to book 'heavier' headliners, even though Pearl Jam are barely heavy nowadays. Completely forgot about this announcement though, thanks for the reminder!

Well I personally still think the Beyonce thing should not have happened, but thats my personal taste, and so based on that alone, leaving aside what I have mentioned about Rihannas character, I think she should not headline. But then thats the selfish opinion based on an individuals taste and so means little in the greater scheme of things...........

Rihanna is an atrocious role model for young girls nowadays, but then again I have to agree with the point that she never wanted/asked/intended to be so she's free to live her life as she chooses. I certainly don't agree that pop stars or footballers have to accept the position of role model with celebrity/fame, it's very hard given the exposure these cretins get but it's the job or the parents to reinforce positive role models to try and counter that.

However given that she is such a bad example you would expect Glastonbury to not want to put her up on a pedestal and in some (fucked up) way legitimise or condone how she behaves by association.

Nice victim-blaming here. No one seemed to give two hoots when actual wife-beater Flavor Flav was booked for last weekend.

In fact, all I heard was moaning when he failed to show up.

AND he wears a clock around his neck for a fashion item. An absolute bellend of a man.

Hes been arrested and jailed numerous times for all sorts of bad shit over the years. Proper bottom feeding trash.

Rhianna can play away. But not a as a headliner. Her music is the absolute pits. Bad nightclub music. Music for simpletons.

    • Rumours are it's called The Lost Tour. In the US in September. Ireland in November (so UK+Europe a good bet around November/early December).
    • Hey guys, is there a group going for any solo y not goers this year?? I couldn’t miss out once I saw the acts but it’s just me and would be great to meet some others:))
    • After deciding to abandon the festival, here's a few of my thoughts (mostly negative tbf).    On the positive side - was it just me or were there a few more urinals than last year? Seemed to help the queues at the loos a bit from what i saw. Plus they had at least had some foresight and had a few more covered areas in the VIP areas.    Now on the negatives.  The weather was admittedly pretty crap but it wasn't apocalyptic. How the actual f**k are bits of the main stage falling off in those conditions?  Then the communication was awful, there's a load of people who left the site because they were told by security guards/other personnel that there would be no more acts on the main stage this evening.  You have an app Primavera, use it! Yes, there's a shitload going on I'm sure but communication with the festivalgoers should be one of the top priorities. You failed.    And I'm not usually somebody who buys into the whole "oh this is hugely unsafe and it's lucky people weren't hurt" narrative, but all the above led to movements of people that were genuinely unsafe.  Evacuating Mordor entirely (again... Why???) and then having a horde of people trying to get in because they thought they were going to Massive Attack was insane.  And given a lot of people basically abandoned ship around 10.30pm the crush at both the exit to the festival and the entrance to the Metro was pretty dangerous.   Conditions happen, most people will get that....but the contingencies have to be better.
    • You'd think that something like bad weather was in the basics of festival planning. After the shitshow of Madrid, you'd think they'd learnt their lesson, apparently not...
    • Same. Shower and back out in a taxi!
