I know Lloris was already at Spurs by that time. But the point is there was nothing stopping Liverpool attracting Lloris when Tottenham did the year before - it wouldn't be the first Tottenham target that ended up at Anfield after choosing Liverpool over Tottenham.

He was hardly a risk signing. He'd already been a star in France, had played for the national side at every level and had good Champions League experience with Lyon - including playing well against Liverpool.

Meanwhile Mignolet had had one and a bit ok seasons for Sunderland with no European experience? Yet cost more than Lloris just 12 months later than Lloris' move to England?

Let's be honest, Reina should have been replaced at least 12 months before he was.

Lambert signing I think is a good one. Cheap wages (comparatively) and offers something completely different off the bench if required. Will also be more than happy with being a squad player.

Think interest in Lallana is nuts though.

Superb article that as you say. Credit to the author and one of the first times I've read in a British article that the Liverpool fans charged 3 times. The story at the time was the Liverpool fans only charged once and it was in retaliation to Italian thugs.

Its a bit different to Liverpool's official site today:

I respect Lambert for making the most out of his career, I think however he will be out of his depth at Liverpool.

nah. A very intelligent player. I can see him and Suarez combining much better than Suarez and Sturridge - Sturridge is a bit one-dimensional.

It's a weird one tho. There's not a lot of mileage left in him ... tho for Rickie it's probably a dream come true.

It's a very good signing.

oh it is - but it's also a very limited lifetime signing. Lambert is getting on.

I'm mildly surprised by it, because getting a longer-term prospect would be better .... but there's the suggestion that it's mostly about making the Lallana thing happen, and within that context it makes a lot of sense. It *IS* a very good signing, but it's also short-term.

I would have thought another striker wouldn't be first on Liverpool's list. Still, not a bad price for a good player.

they've got no backup beyond S&S, and the chances of Suarez going another season without injury is probably pretty slim by the laws of averages. They probably need a striker more than an attacking midfielder.

    • Hi Everyone!   I need your help. I'm trying work out who was playing at The Wishing Well at 3am on the Monday morning at the 2025 festival - this was once the official setlist had ended. The music was down tempo, bass heavy, kept evolving, just mesmerising. Anyone have any ideas? and/or was there as well?
