Strongly disagree. I hate a lot about Chelsea but I don't think they cheated and conned the ref. They used legitimate if unpleasant tactics and capitalised on 2 mistakes. I want teams to win playing good football, but Chelsea weren't playing dirtily, they were playing defensively, and I think it's important to remember the difference when criticising.

PFA Team of the Year: Cech, Shaw, Kompany, Cahill, Coleman, Hazard, Yaya Toure, Gerrard, Lallana, Suarez, Sturridge

Im not sure its the most inspiring list and a lot of the choices seem to be related to the players who have had the most hype. No argument with Hazard, Toure, Suarez and Sturridge but I think most of the others are debatable. Not to say they are bad choices but I don't think they have particularly stood out

Even though Utds season was really shite, I though de Gea had a very good season. Very much one of their outstanding players this year and if it was not for him their season would have looked even uglier

Wonder if Barca will try for him now

As for the PFA any surprise?

Shaw? I'd argue the case of Azpilicueta long before him. Baines, by his high standards, has had a pretty poor season, yet he's still eclipsed Shaw on every level, still young, and has a great future, but team of year? Not for me.

Cech - no, Marshall, Howard or Begovic for me.

Cahill? If argue terry over Cahill, been Terry's best season for ages, he's been formidable. Kompany though, really? He's a top player, but by his high standards, not his best season.

I wouldn't have Skrtel purely because I base my CB on being a solid defender and not a scorer, if I wanted a goal scorer, definitely him.

Coleman - no complaints. Excellent season.

Hazard, Toure, Sturridge, Suarez all yes for me and Gerrards been a big player too.

Lallana is a good player, but even though he had a big spell out, has Lallana had a bigger season than Ramsey? No.

And whilst I can acknowledge that he qualifies, should Hazard get Young Player?

For me it's a stand out player, who has broke through, so for me you could have had any of Barkley, Shaw, Sterling, but Hazard is already established, and had it not been for Suarez having a belter season, he'd have won the main award.

De Gea would be the keeper IMO. I agree Shaw and Lallana don't warrant their places despite having great seasons, don't think I'd put Baines in instead though.

I'd argue the case for Azpilicueta as well, I reckon Mertesacker deserves it over Kompany based on this season. I'd also say Puncheon should be in with a shout as he's had a hand in nearly all of Crystal Palace's goals in the last 5 months. There's a few others I'd say deserve mention:

Fernandinho - who's not only played great himself but also enabled Yaya to have a better season

Nasri - has helped stopped Silva or Aguero being missed during their injuries with fantastic play of his own.

In terms of young players who've really come on, Henderson should be in with a shout. I know he's 23 (which qualifies by FA standards), but he's stepped up and shown far more improvement than Hazard to become a vital part of a team that's now challenging for the title. Hazard already was that. I still reckon Sterling's the best player who's actually youth though.

    • sub yes I could see but I don't think they get 1hr 15, a headliner starting at 18:15 though is unlikely. Even the recent co-headlines that have had like 1hr 15 then a 1hr 30 after were on 8pm or just before, you are trailing behind more than 1.5 hours then. In that scenario some 3rd down bands are only starting at 18:15 and some haven't lol. I agree they won't not book them due to this but it won't be 6 headliners. It would be 5 headliners and you wouldn't want to see 5 headliners booked but Biffy were to not be thouhgt of as an option for one. Wolf Alice on the other hand could sub no bother and you'd think nothing of it. I'm not so sure Biffy would get headline though after the festival choice in Kendal this year.
    • Definitely. UKIP also used Merkel welcoming 1 million Afgans to Europe in 2015 during the brexit vote.   Politicians in other countries within the EU know the are going to lose voters to parties to the right of them over stuff like this and they've no control over it.
    • I think it will very much vary on who there is to book who they know will sell out a day.    They’ve co-headline and full headline stuff in future, there no reason at all they won’t do it again, even if it means cutting someone’s set by 15 mins or having a band less in a big bands day…   They’re not going to not book Foo fighters and instead get the equivalent of Florence and C&S just to not have a band do a big set…   …unless of course they think it will make them more money…
    • Maybe some right wing leaders like Meloni are just playing to their base, like Reform have been here talking about them ending up at Calais.
    • Citizenship via investment programs basically work by saying if you invest this much in our economy (say buy a property worth x) then we will either grant you citizenship or residency with a route to it. The EU has rules on how low countries can set the bar. Montenegro was one of the easier ones to get and they've had to tighten it up.
