Yeah, that article does make it quite explicit, but I wonder if they're confusing Glastonbury with T In The Park.

It's not an easy mistake to make, but to say "their performance at Glastonbury 2013 might not be headlining...", which ties thematically to the previous reference to the festival, when they were headlining. So, excellent copy but poor information.

But that article has made me question - not for the first time - just what is the point of internet comments. A lovely article about a lovely band, but then you scroll to the comments and immediately the warm feeling is extinguished by cold, tired cynicism.

I just wonder, why? What does anybody possibly hope to achieve by saying "I DO NOT LIKE THE BAND IN QUESTION".

Seriously, it makes no sense at all to me. No sense at all.

I wonder if they are getting mixed up with the TITP thing. They would hardly be a band that a 'secret set' would be something you couldn't miss. They're not my cuppa but could maybe be one of the tba's.

I'm 100% with you on this. It's like a form of Tourette's. mention any band on any Internet forum and inevitably the first comment is 'oh they're shit', along with 80% of all comments after that.

I have no problem with debating the merits of anything, music included, but to venture no further than 'they're shit' is hardly entering in to a reasoned debate!

I don't know, I think sometimes "They're shit" just gets right to the point- going into a great intellectual yarn is ignoring the fact that it's a gut reaction. Not everything has to be all polite and reasoned when it comes to music.

You must have heard a song one day, that was at number 1 in the charts, and felt like being sick out of your ears when you heard it, and then got more and more annoyed the more people said how great it was.

Oh I know, and I get that. I think almost all hip hop is total drivel for example. I just think that if you're going to go to the trouble of contributing to a music forum at the mere mention of a band name, stating 'they're shit' is a bit unimaginative! :)

I don't actually think that's why most people do it by the way! ;)
