Nah Justin's fanbase are nowhere near as intense so it should be a better atmosphere.

And plus I don't think many will buy a ticket just for him, unlike Beyonce

Agreed I am just thinking that most people who liked Beyonce would like to see JT, whether it be passionately want to see him like alot of people did for Beyonce or just a slight interest I can see alot of people still wanting to see him

So this rebrand mentioned in the Facebook page....finally the expected (and necessary for them?) effort to squeeze out us oldies bringing the mood down by losing the guitar music? And by oldies I mean anyone over 22-23.

I'd agree with that, if i didn't think they've been trying to do it for the last 5 years already.

jamie cullum headlined a stage last year, haven't heard him played on capital much recently :)

Yeah look at the stage he headlined, you can't even class that as headline, then you look at the rest of the crap though out both days, think me capital comment stands true, especially this year

To be fair it's been possible to fill a day with guitars stuff mixed with some radio pop stuff (so long as you aren't a proper music fan, i.e not expecting the really snobby stuff like the national). At least I've been able to but I'm not at all discerning about my music anymore!

I'm more bothered by the term "proper music fan" myself.

Haha - I don't see myself as a 'proper' music fan - as in courteeners, stereophonics, Coldplay is the stuff I listen to, which then translates to watching the sort of guitary stuff that V has on. 'Proper' music fans care about the lyrics, the musicianship, how much the people care about it being an 'art' etc, deeper than just hearing a song and liking it (like I do, not saying it's a bad thing)

And maybe 'snobby' for the national isn't right, maybe more of the description above, maybe 'credible music' describes it better.

Or anywhere else, thankfully.

agreed.

Opinions!!!

Laura Mvula? Lianne La Havas? Basement Jaxx? Everything Everything? Eels? If their tracks got played on Capital in 2014 they'd be interrupted halfway through by the producers thanks to the sheer weight of "omfg who iz diss I ent herd diss song covered on X Facta" comments. Okay so there's a lot of crap at V but it's not all that bad. And at least they never booked PSY! :P

I'm more bothered by the term "proper music fan" myself.

    • I've been attending Primavera every year since my first one in 2017 & it's always been my favourite week of the year, but I think things have changed.   Firstly, the site just feels too busy in this current set-up. I'm sure it was a lot easier back in 2017-19 to get between the stages & then a good spot for the next one, but now you increasingly have to sacrifice parts of a set or miss them out completely to plan for later on. I wish we still had the Bits area over the bridge to spread everyone out.   But the main issue is the talking, it's always been here but this year it's been relentless & I just can't tolerate it any more. It's at every stage, and everywhere from the front to the back, there is no escape. Not focusing on nationalities, but a major dynamic now seems to be groups of people who are only focusing on their own good time & aren't interested if this affects anyone else. It seems essential that all members of the group are together at the same time, so it's people making telephone calls, people on shoulders waving phone torches, people barging through. It's alright, I'm only trying to watch The Cure here.   I will have a year away to think about it. I thought might give up completely but yesterday was a bit of a classic day after two unenjoyable ones. Adding Olivia Rodrigo to Baxter Dury, Gelli Haha, The XX, Gorillaz & Kneecap shows how good it can be, but as with everything, it's always the people that have the biggest impact.
