Luckysalt said that? Oh well then that's what it is then...

good lineup... (don't shoot me) :ninja:

I've never been to V but I might get a day ticket on Jay-z day

Yeah, some geezer said it's Jay-Z and AM, so Luckysalt checked it out, and found out that Jay-Z is at V, but that AM were at R&L along with Blink.

There have been much more interesting gigs in Manchester since the 70's than a load of middle-aged men and horrific mod fer it teenagers shouting along to an out of tune Ian Brown.

Name 27.

The only reason JT & Jay-z sounded wrong was because they usually have a band on one day.

if this is them being full fledged pop, that could way way be the actual headliners

Jay-Z is pop now? :P

For someone who isn't really up to date with the topic 'interesting musical things to happen in Manchester'; What happened in 1976?

they heard the good news that Benedict Cumberbatch had been born, leading to wild parties up and down the land.

please don't pretend you didn't see this happening... This was eventually going to happen.

I've been saying for a while it'll happen. A shame for me personally - I go to Glastonbury but don't see it as a 'music' festival, as in I don't spend all day watching bands (with distances it's not always possible to see all you want) and i do other stuff, but I then go to V for good crowds for the acts I like (Glastonbury crowds are rubbish most of the time) and usually a good big 'band' headliner. If the all pop thing happens I'm not going to go, the only problem being I don't see an alternative. T? Bloody miles away. Leeds? Hate it but if I want big names and a reasonably consistent day of music (albeit in an atrocious setting) it'll have to be there. Edited by efcfanwirral

DAMN you almost bit.

Was being honest about B182 though. No thank you, never in a catrillon years. Say what you like about V but at least their headline bookings in the last few years have all made notable contributions to music since 2003.

I take it you're only talking about blink here? Otherwise you're quite the troglodyte.

    • Iran firing missiles at Israel blaming Israel's continued breaking of ceasefire agreements with its bombing of Lebanon. Deal with that one Trump you d*ck.
    • Best of all is to get the tram, then call a taxi for very short not-rip-off ride once in the centre.
    • Would you decide to go once more I recommend to queu up at the ‘official’ freenow taxi line ( 5 min walk from the main gate). It might take 15 min or so but they are not ripping you off. Even at 3 or 4 in the night it costed us about 25eur to the city center.
    • How do you mean? Better as a hotel/ festival combo?   I've done rock am ring at both sites.....unpopular opinion I much preferred the mending site and really didn't like the long and narrow main stage at RaR.
    • Yesterday was another brilliant day of music for me. Some highlights:  My Bloody Valentine - absolutely loved it! Maybe my main festival highlight. I felt submerged in the music with all the layers and distortion. It becomes hypnotic almost as it progresses. Not as loud as some thought it might be, but it didn’t need to be. The visuals added a lot too. During the noise part of You Made me Realise, I was basically in a trance staring at the visual tunnel or whatever it was on screen. Amazing experience. Little Simz - as she mentioned at the start, you’re guaranteed a good time with her. Great performance just like in 2022. Zero complaints. The little DJ section wasn't something I expected but was cool. Kneecap - I had a blast but at this point in the night I was at my most intoxicated let's say, so I don’t remember it as clearly as I'd have liked to!    The xx - The sound for this was perfectly balanced (at least where I was) and the band were great. Lots of talkers, but with the crowd size and being kind of far back, it's to be expected. Intro was one of my favourite moments this year. Big Thief - really good live performers. The lead singer has a lovely voice. This was a nice chill way to kick off the mordor gigs for me.
