Another summary from the Model Output thread on netweather

In Summary improvements look more or less guaranteed early next week as a strong ridge of High pressure moves in from the SW over the British isles towards midweek. ECM is less supportive of this pattern with unsettled weather quickly returning later in the week while the rest of the models would see a spell of weather when West would be the best, seeing the best of the warmer and dry conditions while the East, though largely dry too sees more cloud and the chance of a shower. Overall leaving ECM aside the models look like maintaining our 'OK' type summer next week with nothing spectacular shown in the way of hot weather or indeed cool weather with rainfall far less of a feature than lately. It would of been nice to of had ECM on board but we will have to wait and see what the midnight runs show.

So we're settling on "it'll probably be OK" then.

It's not 2010 but it's no 2007 either seems to be the general concensus in my uneducated reading of the weather gurus posts. If we get anything like a 2008/9 with the wet bit deferred until later in the festival I think I'd be OK with that.

Not going to get my hopes up just yet as we're still outside of the timescale where the forecasts become more reliable. But if things are still looking like they have been by Sunday, then it's pretty good weather for the festival!

It's now probably down to two factors:

a) The amount of rain which falls this weekend

B) How quickly the ground recovers from it!

EDIT: And regarding it not being overly hot a la 2010, is that really a problem? I'd be quite happy with high teens/early twenties in terms of temperature!

Unfortunately it's too soon to say that- things really can turn sour overnight!

Remember back in 2010 it was looking rainy ish at this point and then it suddenly started looking up 4 days before the festival. It's too soon to make any guarantees!

I didn't think 2011 was bad at all, the rain on Friday was a bit annoying but just worked well as a motivator to get shitfaced. Didn't find the mud too much of a problem either, managed to see Morrissey (pyramid), chase & status (west holts) and Primal Scream (other) without much hassle or missing any of the sets. Remember it being muddy at the park for pulp, but never found it much of an inconvenience.

Not as shit as 97/98 or 2007. 2005 is an interesting one as it was apparently OK once the disastrous flood got out of the way. I think last year would be on a par with 2004, if it wasn't for the dispiriting nature of dragging your kit on site through torrential rain and mudslides, which made it worse.
