No one has a clue what is going to happen from next Friday night, that's is why we have contrasting forecasts. Don't think it is a case of it looking "less positive". It is still as uncertain as it was last night for the Saturday and Sunday of the festival.

i'm about 9 miles from the site and it absolutely hoofed it down in the night for about 15 minutes at around 0200. roads are damp but drying this morning but it looks like a bit of drizzle due for today.

the bad thing is that there is no breeze to speak of to dry things quicker.....so i'd suspect that the ground will be soft underfoot for a while.

hopefully we'll get a site report today.

The model output thread on netweather has been using words like 'high pressure', 'dry' and 'settled' to describe this mornings charts, including going into next weekend. I can't make sense of charts myself, but there was lots of red and that's enough to send me off to work in a better mood!

on netweather a good thing to look at is the GEFS Ensembles - and check them for somerset - gies you a good idea of preciptation and air pressure for all the runs from the GFS model, find them via charts and data from the home screen and then GEFS Ensembles on the right, select somerset

It's a much better Ecm 00z compared to the 12z last night, high pressure holds across the southern half of the uk and the spoiler low remains much further north and only affects scotland, it remains fine further south and pleasantly warm, Glastonbury could be looking fine and warm for a change

This is ridiculous - accuweather now saying rain on the Friday and sat (and 14 degrees - wtf?!) but metcheck saying it'll be ok until Sunday.

And the beeb says perfect weather until Friday.

I don't know why I do this to myself (well I do, the weather drama is all part of the build up)... It will all change again at least 5 times before Tuesday!

From Netweather..

In Summary the weather next week looks relatively benign and non-eventful once we rid our air space of the unseasonal weekend Low. Most areas look likely to have dry or largely dry conditions under close influence of a ridge associated with High pressure to the SW. The ridge will be eroded at times by weak troughs from the NW but in general the ridge is shown to hold it's own and if synoptics remain as they are next weekend I'm sure the eventers and organisers of events, especially Glastonbury local to here will be more than happy with the current output.

Expect some back and forth with the forecasts over the next few days- by Sunday we start getting into a more reliable time frame. Like the above summary said, if the current prediction holds, it's pretty good! But things can turn quickly!

    • The Radio Dept.?! That's a surprise to me, they haven't toured in like 8 years. Hopefully they will announce some more shows.
    • I was assuming September in Stirling might have a different issue tbf in the form of it just pissing it down.
    • Yeah so many of mine seem to be just France v Spain in one semi and England/Brazil v Argentina in the other. But the fact those combos are the obvious ones mean it feels unlikely that'll happen because in World Cup history, you very rarely end up with what pre-tournament looks like the obvious final 4. We all see teams outperform and underperform. Which one is the fall guy is a different matter.   I've said elsewhere that for me, there's a hierarchy of Spain, France and Argentina as the 3 strongest looking, then England and Portugal, then Brazil and Germany, but that overall, they'd be the 7 likeliest to win. So I dunno, maybe this will be the time the Netherlands avenge the failure of total football in 1974 and achieve what they couldn't achieve through whatever the f**k Nigel de Jong was with his 2010 final karate moves.
    • Oh I think Infantino should resign. His handling of the whole WC process has been an utter shitshow. But you know. That would require him having integrity or something.
    • Good Charlotte would be fine third down or subbing. If they can get a bigger sub and still get GC, they’ll play third down.
