UK does have an extradition agreement with Barbados which is a Category 2 territory for purposes of the Extradition Act.

That's from the UK to Barbados.

There's nothing the other way from what I've been able to find, for instance:-

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Which_countries_do_not_have_extradition_treaties_with_the_United_Kingdom

More interesting though are the stories my Mum always told about boats full of boys on the Norfolk Broads...

tell us more...?

In the interests of balance, Cliff says.....

"For many months I have been aware of allegations against me of historic impropriety which have been circulating online. The allegations are completely false.

"Up until now I have chosen not to dignify the false allegations with a response, as it would just give them more oxygen.

"However, the police attended my apartment in Berkshire today without notice, except it would appear to the press.

"I am not presently in the UK but it goes without saying that I will co-operate fully should the police wish to speak to me.

"Beyond stating that today's allegation is completely false it would not be appropriate to say anything further until the police investigation has concluded."

Sorry, I'm struggling to quote on my phone.

The extradition process is both ways. See the Crown Prosecution Service website.

As for the other, when I was a kid in Norfolk my mum told us that he hired a boat on the broads every year and it had several young boys on it. She always thought that wasn't right. A Google search would suggest he was supporting a South London youth club.

Nice to see the 'innocent until proven guilty' rule still running strong within the British press/public.

He may well be innocent.

But there's one hell of a lot of allegations out there, and until now they've not been followed up. They *SHOULD* be followed up.

The allegations go back for over 30 years, and they've never been properly investigated because attempts at police investigations have been shut down from "on high".

While this police action is to do with something else, it might be what is needed for (if they exist of course) any victims to come forward - in the same way that other famous recent cases have seen the allegations snowball after the first one is made.

Innocent until proven guilty, yep. At least there's finally an attempt at proving him guilty, or not.

OK, cheers. I wonder why Barbados comes up in so many results for not having an extradition treaty, then.

Cliff seems to like supporting young boys where ever they are. He's been honoured for his good work at the children's home near his Portuguese holiday home.

Not an expert and hate to be a spoilsport but if it's a criminal matter shouldn't this thread really be locked? :P

we're discussing the fact of his arrest, and some of the unsubstantiated/unproven rumours which exist on this 'ere interweb.

No one is saying anything about the allegations that lead to the search of his house (as those are to do with something entirely different to the major rumours), and we're not saying he's guilty.

As the owner of this site, nothing I've seen posted here on this subject overly concerns me from the legal angles. Whilst some of it might over-step the line a little (just a little, if at all) in a legal sense, I do not and cannot believe anything of it might prejudice a trial of Cliff if things got that far, and it shouldn't need pointing out to anyone that not everything is said in all seriousness.

Seeing as he has had the pre-warning through internet speculation, in his words "for months" any incriminating evidence that may have been in his possession, i imagine would be gone from his properties by now.

Reports that the police have removed some stuff from his house.

Let's hope it's not a new album.

Like Rolf and Max Clifford didn't?

But anyway, Cliff hasn't lived in the UK for years so anything he might have a 'keepsake' is much more likely to be at one of his more-favoured properties than it is in the UK.
