I think the ads rotate, I've had a few different ones today.

I don't mind ads but I always think they should be more targeted. Companies like Millets and gooutdoors for example should be falling over themselves to advertise on here.

Edit: Amusingly I just spotted the ad for efestivals own camping shop, forget my previous idea ;)

Here's a better idea, a nice little widget that scans the content of a thread and based on keywords shows a targeted ad for a product from the store. When people are discussing what tent to buy and an ad for a tent appears in their face you'd hope for a bit of traffic as a result.

Those things show ads based on what you've previously browsed. I'm thinking something that displays ads based on what you're currently reading.

erm .... do you think you've just cracked advertising on the internet with an idea that no advertising person has thought of and implemented already?

All these things already happen. They just happen in a more effective way (in terms of actions driven by the advertising) than your simple thoughts about it would manage.

A company can't be forced to advertise, but you can be certain that the people who work on the advertising on behalf of efestivals are always chasing the more relevant advertisers.

There's no evidence of it happening here, in the thread about "rucksack porn" for example there are no links being generated to the efestivals camping store rucksack section unless I'm being blind.

there's definite evidence of it happening here, if you pay enough attention.

Just because a page is about a particular topic doesn't get to mean that the best thing to advertise to every reader of that page is products related to the page topic. Internet advertising is waaaaaaaaay cleverer than just that.

I got Adblocker Plus extension on Google chrome. I didn't even know this forum had adverts?

I recommend it. It says you've seen the advertisements (even including 4od and Itv player ads)

But it skips them and doesn't show the ads ;)

I think you can get it for firefox too?

I'm more than happy to pay in adverts rather than money, but that Frank racket just interrupted my Janis Joplin-infused bubble of zen, this has gone too far! I must sign up forthwith!

Still have no money though

Seriously, housemates & now family have overheard these f**king annoying frank campaigns go off from my room & think there is something wrong with me!

I've got no problem with ads but this is f**king ridiculous. It's as if the advert itself is retarded & is extra f**king loud than anything, seriously anything, that I am watching or listening to at the same time.

FRANK F**K OFF YOU F**KING F**K

Please.

Bring back Pablo, I listened to him.

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
    • Easily my favourite set of the day.
