who gives a flying fart through a donut what any music journo or person on these boards says about anything tbh? YOU either like something or you don't, no matter whether it's deemed cool or hip or if it comes from somebody that has had a fantastic or shit career in the past, you like it or you don't, simples eh?

yeh thanks good day at school. You actually help me with my homework as you're a perfect case study for my care worker gcse to help me understand the elderly and empathise with them more. Hopefully I'll pass then I can come and look after you so you get more company than just the meal on wheels lady.

Nah, I gave my opinion on both his album and his voice, which I stick by thanks. Great for the melancholy songs, rubbish on the livelier ones. You're welcome to your own nostalgia clouded view too.

Cheers for the reply though, glad to know I annoy you enough to comment.

I've heard bits of it (not just the 2 singles)

it backs up my home grown theory that Bowie is as good the guitarist he's working with at any given time

Ronson

Slick

Alomar

Fripp

Rodgers

Stevie Ray

Gabrels

Visconti

Leonard

I've missed a few I think but those are probably the main ones. Its an interesting theory mate. Certainly the Gabrels stuff throughout the 1990s was a mess.

and the best are Mick Ronson (Bowie was pretty lost until Mick came on the scene), Stevie Ray, and Earl Slick.

The 'legendary' Glastonbury performance was so good because of Earl Slick being there and Bowie performing most of Station To Station. I still remember the sigh of relief I felt when I realised Earl was there.

That's interesting stuff, only really having concentrated on DB. Do you know who was playing with him 1983 tour, Milton Keynes Bowl & 87 Wembley?

Edit, I'll answer my own question for anybody that's interested, Slick & Peter Frampton respectively. 2 Very memorable concerts anyway & would prefer to remember him that way.

Some of the guitar work on The Next Day is very cool. Especially love the guitar work on the opening track. To play something that discordant but make it sound so neat and well placed takes a lot of skill. Its a really intricate piece of guitar playing if you concentrate on it. You could imagine Graham Coxon playing that kind of guitar line.

Went to the Victoria and Albert museum today to see the Bowie collection and it was brilliant. They show a couple of his 2000 glastonbury performances. I really hope he is there this year!

I believe that Bowie could still compete with the big guns as a live performer. He's obviously not keen on doing it at the moment. I'm sure he'll pop up unannounced at various gigs in the near future as spacial guest. I was very fortunate to be at the Albert Hall a few years ago when he appeared out of nowhere and sang Arnold Layne and Comfortably Numb with Dave Gilmour. Blinding stuff! The thought of him showing up in June to duet 'Dancing In The Street' with Mick makes me both laugh cringe though. Can you imagine?

Also went to David Bowie is ... At V&A yesterday. Have to admit to a tear in the eye at watching the Glastonbury footage with Heroes and remembering the atmosphere. Totally overcrowded that year of course with the fence down and it got very scary at some points but he was my highlight of 2000.

    • Proper loser behaviour wearing a tee like that. Me and my mate play a game every year called ‘Boomer Tees’ and there’s some gems every time.
    • Naah, she plays 4 dates in Barcelona in early May
    • It'd be new album stuff if it were to happen I think.  First 2027 headliner in the bag also?
