After hearing her at the Olympics and on Jools Hootenanny last night i thought i'd give her album a listen this morning. I'm impressed not only with her voice but also the fact that unlike some other female vocalists of this jaundre she actually writes all of her own material. Great tracks such as " Next to me", Heaven " Clown " , "my kind of love" and " River " are destines to become classics from a great Debut album. I'd love to see her at Glasto somewhere.

She is certainly popping up on everything at the moment, Olympics, Jools Holland Hootenany, chat shows, winning awards.

However whilst appreciating that she has a good voice she just isn't very interesting, to me anyway. She has that 'soulfulness' like Mary J Blige and Alicia Keys which seems a bit forced and appears like an exercise in vocal dexterity.

I would prefer to see someone like Paloma Faith, who was also on Jools last night and came across as warm and funny, and a real performer.

I think I am scarred by hearing too much Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, not by choice, in my youth.

Now when I hear anything 'soulful' and making one note into several notes ( I'm not musical, is there a term called melasma to describe it) I run a mile.

And I'm afraid Emelie Sande reminds me of the two repeat offenders I mentioned above.

Again, it's my particular opinion. Lots of people like that sort of thing.

i used to enjoy her music but what with the Olympics and all the other overexposure she's had, i've grown absolutely sick of her. wish i'd gone to see her at Bestival so i could've enjoyed her live when i still enjoyed her music. if she played Glastonbury, it'd have to be a 'if i'm already there' situation if i was going to watch her

I don't mind her, yeah a few songs are decent enough and she will no doubt pop up and was half decent at Hackney Weekend last year...but she is fucking everywhere?! It's making me bored of her and that's a shame.
