Was I the first to call this? I'm not fishing for kudos or anything, but I'm actually kind of interested.

Anyway, my amazing ability for predicting headliners aside, I'm kind of tempted back to Reading by this, largely because I like Eminem, and can't see him being at any other festivals I'd be going to... Or Download as its more commonly known!

I don't see why people are bitching. Eminem was a good choice as the first announced headline he has a massive fan base that will shift tickets aswell as being broadly liked by most people (I don't listen to much rap at all but enjoy Eminem). If people want a pure Rock / Metal go to Download.

Someone asked who they would like to be the headliners. I'd love it to be Eminem / Prodigy / Red Hot Chilli Peppers

I actually think it's a great booking for the festival, it's just not to my taste. If I could pick the other two headliners they'd be System Of A Down and Blur and I'd bite your hand off for a ticket.

To be honest, going forward, but this year in particular, I'm not really sure who I'd want to headline beyond those two...besides Radiohead and those two I've seen every band I like of headliner size now, and Radiohead won't play Reading again. Maybe smaller, cheaper fests are the way forward for me :).

...I do wonder what would please some Reading fans. Maybe it's time to start going to another festival eh?

We don't want Biffy or Mumford they're not big enough or good enough.....we don't want the Cure because we don't know enough of their songs, we don't want Eminem he's past his prime and too poppy, we don't want the Arctics or The Killers or Kings of Leon, they've played too much, we don't want Arcade Fire because we don't know any of their songs. Who the fuck do people want? Led Zepplin with Jesus on drums?

Alright grumpy guts! I was merely pointing out that the majority of people on these forums seem to moan no matter who gets announced. Eminem, clearly has more negative feedback then good as do the suggestions of Mumford & Sons, The Cure got the same last year, Arcade Fire, My Chemical Romance, Kasabian, Guns N Roses. Muse/Strokes/Pulp and Foos were relatively well recieved I think?. Either the people on these forums are rather opinionated when it comes to headliners...or Reading are apparently not very good at booking Headliners.

    • wombats have been doing that and selling quite well, couple of really strong support acts could make it work.
    • Yes. September still a very long away, keep the faith.
    • With Di Artze doing Nova Rock next year, if Foos are there too I think that puts pay to SOAD. I would think they would get SOAD if they could rather than Di Arte again 3 years later.
