for the last time, Eminem does sing (well, rap) live, he just has a backing track to fill in for whenever he runs out of breath (due to his songs being quite demanding in the rapping department) along with a hype man. a lot of rappers do it. there are even some bands that do it. it's an irrelevant point

You could say that about all the older headline acts though. What was the last thing The Strokes did which could be described as cutting edge, for example? Or Pulp, RATM, Smashing Pumpkins, Metallica, etc. I like all those bands but it's hard to deny that their peak was in the 90s (early 2000s in The Strokes' case)

Kanye doesn't rap very fast though... and neither Jay. not to the same extent as Eminem, anyway. they're much more about the flow and lyrics. i know the argument could be made that 'if you can't do it live, then don't do it on record' but obviously a big part of Eminem's draw when he began was his speed so i can't see him slowing down on record now purely so that he can do it live

...I do wonder what would please some Reading fans. Maybe it's time to start going to another festival eh?

We don't want Biffy or Mumford they're not big enough or good enough.....we don't want the Cure because we don't know enough of their songs, we don't want Eminem he's past his prime and too poppy, we don't want the Arctics or The Killers or Kings of Leon, they've played too much, we don't want Arcade Fire because we don't know any of their songs. Who the fuck do people want? Led Zepplin with Jesus on drums?

I go to other festivals. Reading's close, easy to do, and a cheap way to see big bands that are often on exclusives though. I want it to have good lineups because I know how to do Reading for 1/2 the price I do Bestival.

And in terms of who the fuck I want:

DAFT PUNK!

i went to Bestival the past two years and i must've spent twice the money i would've had i gone to Leeds. i love that festival but goddamn is it pricey to go to

if only Daft Punk would tour again. i wouldn't care what festival they played or where it was. i would be there

Have a feeling Eminem will bring along some special guests... Rihanna, Dre, 50 Cent(?), D12...

Dead looking forward to it, will be a privilege to see one of my ultimate favourites in music.
