Best/Worst Covers

I dislike up-themselves 'serious' bands covering pop songs (Like Coldplay there) - It's a really lazy, sneery thing to do.

I much prefer pop bands/acts covering serious rock classics, mainly cos it upsets the purists and that's always entertaining.

I've tried to listen to all the clips in the thread and can't manage any more than 30 seconds, i just can't stand covers. i blame the mike flowers pops era. i had a nightmare trip once and the only song i could hear all night was that version of wonderwall they did.

Did you just happen to be passing the other stage at the same time florence was on or are you openly admiting you watched her? Everyone else on here who heard her seemed to be "just passing" as she was doing that cover sarcastic_blum.gif

oi! .... I was camped up in Dairy or somewhere that year, which meant I had to walk past the Other Stage (something i've rarely done in all my Glasto attendances).

Along with Flo, I also had the displeasure of walking past when La Roux (!!!) were on.

And I walked past when Flaming Lips were on, to re-discover that nothing ever changes about them. Seen 'em once, seen 'em a million times. I think I might have caught some of Orbital too when strolling past (much the same applies with them as Flaming Lips).

There were probably other horrors I experienced too. Luckily I've forgotten those. laugh.png

The worst thing I have ever heard was walking through the Other stage a few years back and some dreadlocked bufoon covering Bohemian Rhapsody. I don't like that song at the best of times, but that version was absolutely execrable.

Just checked online - Newton Faulkner

    • Remain self-imposed on not going north of a hundred, but... we're getting to the point now where the starting gun will be above that for some acts.
    • I'm finding the lower line up a little impenetrable this year   Any thoughts on heavier bands a la Slift a few years ago?
    • Will be curious to see how most of those shows sell. Surprised they're playing Leeds and Manchester - much as I am with Megadeth. (Not complaining, mind you.)
