I was at the Wall show in Berlin's Olympiastadion (yes, THAT Olympic stadium) last week.

Stunning. Perfect weather, perfect acoustics, atmospheric venue, no queues, cheap beer, cheap grub.

I was also at the O2 gig when Gilmour played and although that was epic this blew it away in terms of scale.....no spoilers on the show though for those doing Wembley but you won't be disappointed.

Getting quite excited about Saturday night now. Going with a die hard Floyd fan (like me) who is super excited and a younger couple who I'm not sure appreciate Floyd in the same way. Got an email yesterday from one of the younger couple asking where (us old fogies) were thinking of standing as she wanted to be right down the front. I had to explain that it would probably be a bit better from a little distance and linked to a nice picture of the O2 stage completely obscured by the Wall. Besides, I said, RW is nothing to look at really, he was 70 last week.

At the Earls Court gig I was so far away I couldn't have told you how many people were on stage, let alone who was on stage, but the show was still incredible and goes down as one of my all time favourite gigs (up there with Mr Bowie at G2000). RW was 'good' at Glasto, just a shame he wasn't given the headliner slot, it would have been a much better show IMO.

Doubt I'll be able to make the Wetherspoons meet, will try, but I don't think we'll get to Wembley until about 6pm.

I am really looking forward to seeing this at Wembley on Saturday, although I am going to be quite away back from the Wall should still be a real spectacle. Also going to Paris the following Saturday for the final show of the tour (and more than likely ever) this time we will be standing, I couldn't resist it when the tickets went on per-sale, but I had to sell the idea of going to Paris to my misses as a romantic weekend away leaving it until she was happy with the idea before breaking the news that we would probably take the concert in while we were there :)

    • Tickets on sale when I'm abroad (I'm assuming this sells out in minutes), and the actual dates could not be worse for me work-wise. Still going to try to get tickets, of course, but god damn!
    • I'm personally confident that Slipknot will be one of the headliners next year (no insider info just lines up with them likely releasing an album soon)    Then there's the headliner that's never played the festival before which the bookers have alluded to so that's one of Blink, Foos, NIN, Nickelback and possibly Pearl Jam or even Bon Jovi    The third band I also think will be a new headliner who are being bumped up so Deftones, Offspring, Paramore Etc.    I'd love Slipknot, Foos and Paramore but realistically i'd go with Slipknot, Blink and Deftones
    • Loads of people have to listen to music they don't like all day, while at work!   Not much different.
    • Generally shorter too, I imagine. 🙂
    • Will that work for arenas with seats? People will have their tickets on their phones and needs to find their seat.
