I have about a hundred quid that I have to make last till the end of this month and I am still seriously considering buying a ticket for Manchester tonight.

I keep telling myself I've seen it before so I can't justify it and I think I will be sensible (if I were single, I'd be half way down the M62 already).

I am tempted to see ' what may be ' his last gig http://partenaires.ticketnet.fr/en/manifestation/idmanif/275130
is still selling them - { link direct from http://tour.rogerwaters.com/ } - 67 Euro to 105 Euro { not great seats but better than nothing }
but by sods law its the WBC Organiser party the same night and I have already arranged to meet people there and on balance I cant miss the party but I am tempted.

It was just one of those gigs where you will say to mates who weren't there how it was the most insane thing ever but you had to see it to believe it, and they'll go, "sounds great" and you'll go "no. it wasn't just great, this wasn't just a normal stadium gig", and then some douchebag will go "sounds like Muse at wembley, that was insane. They had a UFO and some fire works".

"Arghh! Nooo!"

indeed, it's best just to smile and embrace your inner peace, safe in the knowledge that you have witnessed something beyond the comprehension of their tiny minds.

Very similar as trying to explain to people on here who went to chic what they missed at portishead on the other stage...

"yes but let's dance was BRILLIANT! We all danced and that!"

I agree with you on the first part but still maintain that Chic was something special. I don't regret that decision for a second!

I always find it frustrating to get across how good a performance was to someone who wasn't there so I usually don't bother. That's why I'm so glad I went with my boyfriend to Roger Waters because if he'd tried to explain it to me I would have been one of those knobheads going 'Sounds great...'

You obviously don't get the chic thing, because he also played "everybody dance" and we all danced, and he played "greatest dancer" and we danced like the greatest dancer, and then he played "dance, dance, dance" and everybody danced, like 3 times harder than before, it was nuts. You had to see it to believe it.

I'm sorry but if you weren't at Chic then you can't pass comment! But I don't get Portishead anyway so I can't really make a fair comparison...

Sorry scruffy, but I think in your position I would go for it. I think that Waters gig was one of those rare instances of a really expensive gig that was actually worth the money. Unlike the £100 I spent on a touted Nick Cave ticket, much as I worship the man.

I saw Chic at Bingley though. I'm guessing it wasn't that different (admittedly, I may be wrong).

I know Waters is worth the money, and if I hadn't seen it I wouldn't hesitate, but is it worth the money twice?

"11 And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”

12 The man said, “The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”"

On a slightly different aspect - did anyone else buy any merchandise? I bought a t-shirt as my '94 Earls Court one is looking decidedly shabby these days but I wasn't impressed with the quality, very thin material for a £25 t-shirt. Programme is good though.

Mind you, the t-shirts being touted on the way out (the unofficial sellers with their wares spread out on the pavement getting in the crowd's way) looked pretty awful, and they wanted £15/20 for them.

Top gig! We had a n excellent view standing on some ducting that covered cables to the sound desk. Gave everyone in our posse about an extra 2 inches :)

Was fine sneaking in a load of premixed vodka and orange and couldn't help but smile at all the naughty people who were having a sly spliff in the crowd ;)

(Also saw The Book of Mormon on the Friday in the West End. Absolutely hilarious. If anyone gets a chance to see it, do it.)

Course everything's better at Glastonbury. Chic just ain't my thing really so I am being facetious. And I thought he was brilliant - just not for me.

Your avatar is certainly apt, Rebecca. "For the devil sends the beast with wrath.......Let him who hath understanding reckon the name of the beast, for it is a human name. The name is Rebbeca D."

Very true. We're all obviously big Floyd/Waters fans here and so are naturally biased. But putting the music aside for a moment (and putting my geeky hat on), technically it was on another level. For anyone into stage production it was a master class, the accuracy of the lighting queues (and there must have been many thousand of them) was spot on, the 3D projection effects were astounding and the surround sound was the best I've ever heard. At the end I specifically took lots of pictures of the kit they used to show to friends in the business as I know they will appreciate the complexity of the show and how it was achieved.

    • It'd be new album stuff if it were to happen I think.  First 2027 headliner in the bag also?

    • Hilarious to describe this as suprising, for the guy who can't afford to go on holiday, the guy who goes on holiday is rich, for the guy who goes on holiday, the guy who gets 3 holidays a year is rich, for the guy who gets 3 holidays, the guy who stays in 5* hotels is rich, for the guy who stays in 5* hotels, the guy that flies business class is rich, for the guy who flies business class the guy with a private jet is rich etc..   I think one of the greens video's that they put out that went viral, Zacks description of "the rich" covered 12 people in the UK.
