Site changes for 2013

I said this last year - the problem is marketing. Apparently there are loads of late night areas but you never hear about them because everyone goes on about Shangri-La etc. having big signs saying, "Late Night Area" all pointing in one direction doesn't help. Much better "advertising" of other options would make a massive difference. Also making the south-east corner stuff more interesting to see during the day - a lot of people go simply for a nosey and if you could spread those people out over a longer period of time I think that would make a difference too.

It's not a done deal where Arcadai is moving. I spoke to Emily yesterday, she said "Something's going on, but It's too early to say at the moment, but there are some changes going on. More because the late night stuff is very crowded, and I don't think the one way system really worked, but we are in the middle of (sorting out) that at the moment, and it's a bit too early to say. We'll probably say what's happening early next year, that's when the actual announcements go out about the details. At the moment it's still at the ideas stage and we are meeting everyone, and hearing about all the concepts and plans and ideas."

Looks like all the ideas are very much up in the air, and nothing is finalised yet, and that the Arcadia move (or where it moves) is not a done deal. The ideas now may be totally different by spring time, and what they are talking about at the moment may not necessarily happen. The main thing was I think that Emily and co wanted to make it as 'de-congested' as possible.

Them using the phrase 'Pennard Hill again' makes it sound like its in the same place they were last year which was where Myhab were supposed to be I guess. Them doing pre-erected camping on site (apart from the tipi's) really would be a shame.

There will be no Bourbon Street next year:

Unfortunately we will not be attending Glastonbury in 2013 due to the changes being made by the new management team and alterations in the site layout.

Not happy about the loss of Bourbon Street. One of my favourite stages and a good late night alternative for those of us who don't like dance music.

Hopefully there'll be somewhere else for the type of bands that used to appear there.

Yeah, disapointed about bourbon street - it seemed very popular, as does the swamp shack at bestival, i like that type of venue and only got to briefly in 2011 at a point when i couldn't really enjoy it.

Shame about Bourbon St, didn't manage in last year but it was good in 2010.

I think that's a good point. Let's face it when it's late and people are drunk they follow simple logic.. if they see signs saying 'late night area this way' they will stumble that way. I know myself I've been victim of this sort of basic error a few times. I always come back wishing I'd spent more time in the Fire show areas plus Circus/ Cabaret late night... but in my sozzled condition I tend to herd with the masses. More basic info like 'Fire Show field until 2am' or 'Cabaret tent continues until 2am' would help me and presumably others. I'm not asking for a neon village (bible?) of signs equating to a town car park '45 spaces available', but maybe some basic info signs at night making it fairly clear what time each area closes?

The glamping option referred to is the cloudhouses lot, who've confirmed location as being near the stone circle for the new boutique bit mentioned on the website, check their FB page.

Can't stand the proliferation of glamping options at Glasto now - just not in the spirit. Working the Pennard Hill Gate in 2011 for every one sound guy or gal there were nine tweed-wearing coked-up Tarquins with Kate Moss wannabies in tow giving us all grief because they 'couldn't be bothered' to bring their ticket down the hill with them.

Gutted about the loss of Bourbon Street, loved the last 2 times there – was always how I started my day – some brilliant acts. I really hope Glastonbury are going to cater for blues/jazz/acoustic in the same way.

Bourbon St was the 1st place I found with music wed night the 1st time I went, shame It's gone

Maybe the tent will still be there with an alternative set up. Here's hoping.

all this glamping is stupid..if people are that worried about not having all their comforts..perhaps a festival isnt for them - like the ones where they have power so people can charge their phones or use their hair straighteners or whatever else they just cant do witohut

maybe gigs and then home after?
