The rumble was ok, but I dont think I am as positive about it as most.I thought the smackdown title match could just have been on normal TV. Zayn just isnt at the level to be fighting for the world title in my view. The raw title and both tag matches were also forgettable.

The mens rumble was generally well booked, from a personal perspective I was a bit disappointed that Elias and Rusev didnt get to shine a bit more.  I was also a little surprised that they didnt put Roode into the rumble after the momentum from winning the US title.  The surprise entrances (I think it was just Hurricane) was disappointing compared to previous years I thought they told some good stories, but the thing ran out of steam as it went down to the final 4 and particularly the final 2.  I had recently watched the rumble where HBK and Taker had a classic final 2 fight and maybe my expectations were too high. Im not a huge Nakamura fan, but he was probably the best choice of the final 4.

The womans rumble was also well booked and understandably had better surprises as there was more space to fill. To me having Stephanie as guest commentator made things worse and not better. Again I have no problem with the winner, but I thought it was a mistake giving the Bellas such a big role, when they are no longer on the active roster. I also thought that Naomi spot in getting back into the ring was really dumb.

Also, seen many people saying how Rousey turning up has overshadowed the current roster.

I can see why people think that but I can also think how the company are looking at it.

They've just got loads of casual eyes on the product with news articles stating Rousey turned up, interrupted the Rumble winner and the Champs.

So is it overshadowing them, or is it putting more eyes on them?

To be fair winning the first ever womans rumble and placing the match in the main event above the mens is a pretty good spot. I dont watch MMA so to me Rousey is just a name, she didnt come across as particular kick ass to me, but maybe I will change my views when I see more.

Rousey and Partner vs HHH and Steph at Mania according to Meltzer (rare for him to outright break news,

I think that would be a mistake, I dont think fans want to see HHH or Stephanie take such a high profile role. If they really do care about the next generation and the womans revolution, then actions would speak louder than words.

To your point earlier about the PPV, I actually agree that the other matches weren't that great but I think Rumbles lifted the show into a really high category.

You forgot about Rey Mysterio and the NXT surprises.

Not keen on that for Rousey either, hopefully Meltzer is wrong, seems like he is wrong about the Undertaker thing too.

Although if she teamed with The Rock i'll be happy enough.

Your right I dont know how I forgot about Mysterio. The commentators were correct about what good shape he is in. I hope they can bring him back for a short terms program.

I haven't seen Raw yet, going to watch it tonight but I'm really excited for it. Rey is wrestling in Leeds this week I think, not sure what sort of deal he had with WWE, maybe just a one off. They could do with him on 205 live right about now. Although that could be a waste for him.

This was my first thought when I read the post about her being in a match vs Triple H/Stephanie. I'm sure they had a promo a few years back when The Rock came out and then pulled Ronda from the crowd?

It was indeed. A quick Google looking for that video also just found this link: https://www.mmafighting.com/2018/1/29/16944192/wwe-attempting-to-put-together-a-ronda-rousey-tag-team-match-with-the-rock-at-wrestlemania-34

According to sources in WWE, the company is attempting to put together a match with Rousey teaming with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson against Stephanie McMahon and Paul “HHH” Levesque for WrestleMania on April 8 at the Mercedez-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. The idea of the match was first designated for WrestleMania 32 in Dallas in 2016.

The four did an in-ring angle at WrestleMania 31 on March 29, 2015. at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. Stephanie had slapped Johnson, who wouldn’t hit a woman. Rousey was stationed at ringside in the stands and Johnson brought her in the ring to attack McMahon and give HHH a judo throw.

It is not clear if Johnson has agreed to the match. Johnson hasn’t wrestled a significant match since the 2013 WrestleMania, when he suffered legitimate torn muscles in a match that caused the delay in filming the movie “Hercules.” In 2016, at the WrestleMania in Dallas, he did a one-move match that lasted less than 10 seconds.

Johnson hasn’t wrestled since the injuries in a significant match due to insurance issues regarding movies that he had been under contract for.

I noticed HHH mentioned Chyna on raw 25 and Stephanie did at the Rumble. I hope this is a sign she is going in the hall of fame, she is by far the most glaring omission.

You have to imagine she's going in this year with those mentions.

Weren't they shit scared of it a few years ago. With the whole women's revolution/evolution she would be an ideal pick right now.

with the women's revolution going on full speed, I wouldn't be surprise if the main event of WM this year is the women's title or the match involving Ronda Rousey.

They came up with some crappy excuse about porn. It's really a no brainer and it will also stop the annual thing about questioning why certain woman eg Beth Phoenix are going in before her

I think it may look a bit forced putting a woman's title match in the main event. I dont think any of the woman are over enough.

Asuka?

I really want Banks to will the title at Elimination Chamber and go full heel then face Asuka at Mania.

No I think someone like Brock is far more over. Im sure the Brock match will main event, it definitely won't be styles v Nakamura.

Not disagreeing with you but have you heard the reaction Asuka is still getting?

Brock vs Reigns to main event, that'll go over well (I personally don't mind it)

    • I too am always a bit blurred on what/who constitutes a legend slot but would Sting fit that bill?  Those there said his IoW slot was v good and he has enough of a songbook imo for a Sun afternoon if he uses the Police's 1st 2 albums for a fair chunk of it
    • Thing is, I'd have said that as well.   But then she inexplicably ended up on the Wilderness lineup and that changes everything. I reckon if that goes well, which it will, then she's very much in the picture.
