CHRLY
I saw There Will Be Blood @ The Royal Festival Hall with Jonny Greenwood and the London Contemorary Orchestra playing the score live. The film has been in my top 10 for ages but this was something else. Phenomenal.

mjsell
Really enjoyed Hacksaw Ridge the other day. Proper Hollywood fodder, but very well made.

I thought it was whack when I saw it back in the day - I remember being underwhelmed when I went to the cinema to see it and haven't seen it since. Then again I didn't enjoy interstellar the first time in the cinema but when I watched it again on 4K the other day I was enthralled so I guess tastes can change. I stand by The Beach being a shit film though.

Well I'm not about to tell anyone they're wrong about what they like (except for when @The Nal starts slagging off all musicals), but you should watch it again. Spindles
I also found Sunshine disappointing on the first viewing, but rewatching completely changed my mind and it's a film I've returned to several times since. I really wish Danny Boyle would do more sci-fi. I'm trying to avoid reading anything about T2 until I get to see it.

From the interview he did with Kermode and Mayo last week, I don't think Danny Boyle particularly rates it himself. Saw T2 last night and enjoyed it. Not a patch on the original obviously but still good. really wasn't sure about it when it was first announced, Didn't think much at all of Porno when I read it. But then the trailer, and I started thinking it could be OK. Was genuinely nervous driving to the cinema that it might be really shit but no need to worry, Not sure how good it is as a stand alone film, but then it's impossible to think of it as a stand alone film Edited February 1, 2017 by philipsteak

mungo57
T2 was really good. Much better than I expected. Really funny throughout and Begbie a total psycho as always. glad Danny Boyle did justice to the original - I was worried it would be just a rehash of Trainspotting but it wasn't. Really glad I went to see it
Comfy Bean
T2 last night. Few beers before few rums during. Really enjoyed the film. Great tunes again. Loved some of the new Ones and the use of the slowed down piano chord bit from born slippy always gets me. Quite funny in bits and sad in others 7.5/10 with Spud as my man of the match. mjsell
Have just finished watching Lion. A truly remarkable film, and fully deserving of all the nods it is receiving currently. If you finish that film without it touching an emotional nerve somewhere then you might be in trouble. Great story and the film does it justice imo. big__phil
Re-watched Shindler's List over the weekend, ahead of a trip to Krakow in a couple of weeks. I think it's a masterpiece, and my favourite Spielberg film. Let's have a vote: favourite Spielberg?

I didnt think much of Bridge of Spies other than Mark Rylance's performance. I'd go Schindler's List or Raiders. It still amazes me that he was post-production editing Jurassic Park in the evenings after filming Shindler's list during the day.
