monkey1989
I would have been more than happy as Franz Ferdinand being the Friday headliner and beef up the main stage undercard

Frankly Mr Shankly
So long as the Lips didn't clash with Vampire Weekend & the Knife didn't clash with Elton that would be brilliant. I think the Lips will end up being on the main stage & Franz Ferdinand in the Big Top though.
Paul ™
Can't really see it being Vampire Weekend IMO

the wonderwhy
They've headlined Latitude before. I'd say they're between subbing & headlining. Edited April 16, 2013 by MattDavies__
Paul ™
3 years ago, on the back of Contra which was released the start of 2010 and Latitude is 1/2 of Bestivals capacity at 25,000 in 2010, and have done nothing of note since over here. I'd put them as sub at most at Bestival, but then if RDB is looking to save a few quid he might have them headline at a push. the wonderwhy
I think they also sold out 2 nights at Ally Pally the same year. They haven't lost any popularity, and if anything it'll be boosted by the new album & all this 'return' nonsense. It would also be a UK fest exclusive headline set. I agree they'd probably be a bit on the weak side, but I don't think its too much of a push. They're definitely on the verge.

rexclark
I really don't know about Vampire Weekend, they are slightly smaller than the last few years headliners IMO but that's not to say they couldn't headline. Can't see it myself though.
Paul ™
If they do, it would be a weak choice but a cheap choice if RDB wants to save a few quid.
dentalplan
I still think it's Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. Headlining festivals absolutely anywhere this Summer.
Paul ™
And they are doing that The Gentlemen of the Road Stopover though it's not really a festival, but not a million miles away from the IOW either and only 7 weeks before Bestival Edited April 16, 2013 by Paul ™
smogo
Good spot on The Knife. Where are you getting Franz Ferdinand from though? EDIT: BBC and Belle & Sebastian are both down for Friday according to their sites.

the wonderwhy
Someone mentioned somewhere that Alex Kapranos was a guest on some radio show and mentioned that they're playing on the Saturday. I reckon that either they're co-headlining the Big Top along with The Knife, or that (perhaps less likely) The Knife are headlining Annie Mac Presents on the new stage.
