I've bought day tickets twice and both times it was just for the headliner.

Looks like my pointed has been debunked.

But to festivals I been for a day there normally has been some other intensive to go and pay the price of the ticket (expect for when I went to Leeds in 2012 as my uncle didn't want to go any more so I took the ticket). But that is how I do things I guess

Paramore pulled out of two dates in the US due to exhaustion and a chest infection. They will be nowhere near their best when reading comes around. Blink on last nights showing could rival qotsa for best IMO (I didn't even like blink till last night)

You can swich your shifts with others...

If i was you i would camp with your mate and do your shifts (i know people who did this last year) at the WORST they will kick off... Almost cirtainly wont and you will have a good festival

why blacklist yourself when you might be able to get away with it?

Yeah, thanks for that :)

I may try it. So at worst if it was disallowed and I did it could I be kicked off the scheme, or would I actually be kicked off the site too?

It sounds like while they don't like volunteers camping with the general public it isn't banned or anything. If you're that bothered spend £40 on a cheap tent and sleeping bag to set up in the volunteers area and show our face their a few times and have your proper set-up with your mates. Gotta be better than losing £230.

They'd probably wag their finger but I can't see them coming down on you very hard; as long as you turn up on time for your shifts I can't see much of a problem

To be fair it wasn't 100% normal circumstances. I wanted to go for the weekend but my mate wasn't allowed to, and then a couple of my brother's mates were going on the Strokes day so I decided to get a day ticket and go with them and join my brother's group.

And then Muse announced they were playing Origin in full and my brother was a being a little arseface about it like "Waheyyy I'm seeing Origin in full Will waheyyy", so my mum was like "Do you wanna go Will? I'll get us day tickets", so FUCK YOU brother. And then in the end she couldn't go so gave her ticket to my brother's friend and we just went and joined my brother's group.

So yeah basically one day ticket was because it was the next best thing after not being able to do the weekend (although I did only really pay the £90 for The Strokes (yeah £90 for that shite)), and the other was just for Muse, but I didn't pay for the ticket anyway.

On the NME website its been said that there will be an arena sized band playing a secret set at both Reading and Leeds, any thought on who it could be?

Cool story

But I just realized that the only festival tickets I have bought for the day was both times I went to BST Hyde Park (which is more an outdoor gig than a festival) and I only paid full price for one of them as Neil Young was £2.50. I got Leeds from my uncle so that was a gift for my birthday and my dad bought Download day tickets for me and my brother for working hard during exams (apparently we were so he just bought them...).

But to add to this someone I know was going to get a day ticket for Biffy Clyro but it was too much for her and someone this year was going to get a day ticket for Arctics (and he is a huge fan as he doesn't listen to much else) and he decided it was too much even when I offered he could stay the night and leave on the Monday. So there has to be a lot of intensive to go from my perspective.

Aye I was talking to someone this morning who's considering a day ticket for QOTSA but because of them not playing last at Leeds doesn't know if it'll be worth it (and not really wanting to see anyone else).

Why would it matter who plays last? Was that person Matt and they really want it to be dark?

£100 is too much for a festival set by any band providing it wasn't a massive one-off show. I wouldn't pay that for Queens and the other ten bands I'd see.

Bands of Skulls have reiterated that there's no clash with AM and there's a 15 min changeover. Is there anyone dancey likely to close? There's too many bands on that day for it to finish early surely.

I just spotted they've moved The Minutes to the morning before so it seems that's how they've done that.

Was more just a contributing factor tbh. Rest of lineup doesn't appeal, costs a lot, QOTSA playing in the light.

And no it wasn't Matt, definitely not Matt.

    • Yep - should have been the Stones.
    • Yeah I do agree on the 2 hour thing. But if they were subbed by Biffy/WA only doing 75 mins or so would be doable.   Only reason I suggested them was because we know they're back doing shows here next year.
    • Its probably the culmination of issues that have been simmering under the surface for a while. Spain ran a regularisation program recently that allows undocumented individuals to obtain temporary legal status and then a route to EU citizenship. 1.2 million applied. At the same time Montenegro is having to close its citizenship via investment program as part of EU ascension talks.    Countries are obviously asking, why are we having to reject investors whilst others can wave anyone in?
    • I'm not sure, they aren't giving any headliner in that format 2hours and Foos would have at least 2. I wouldn't say Reading is likely for them next year either. If they are as said going big on a tour with stadiums and festivals then the UK is once place they can definitely do stadiums and that would rule them out. And that's even if they come back for a second UK stint as I fully expect them in Europe from very early. That could be seen as hyperthetical but there are is some places I cannot see them not doing from history.
