2013 Lineup

Still not convinced about Green Day being a possibility. Would be a big change from the norm to book a band with a big show already booked in this country just two months before the fest.

With the cryptic SOAD quote, and Sabbath rumours when they would have been finalising headliners, I can't see past Sabbath now. In order of likelyhood I reckon

Sabbath

RATM

Green Day (wouldn't rule it out completely)

Then outsiders (again ordered by likeliness IMO)

Metallica

"Someone else"

The Who

The Linkin Park Mime Troupe

AC/DC

Blur

they could easily play GG.

Also, I'm not convinced that C&S won't end up playing there again either this year, but they did play in 2011 and headed 2012 on the main stage.

Think Nero will be back at GG though, not at Cream.

The Prodigy are an act with a fantastic back catalogue who don't use it.

The last 5 years its been the same show from them and they're just going through the motions.

With a UK exclusive last year at Download and a UK exclusive this year with Creamfields they'll be everywhere next year, so I hope they freshen up their setlist.

Best I saw them was in 2005, saw them twice that year, at V [which is the best I've seen them] and at the NIA. Playing a greatest hits set both times. That is what the Prodigy can do, but they insist on playing hardly anything but the last album which everyone has seen performed live by now, that said I still think they put on a good show at Download last year even though im disappointed they didn't make more of their headline slot.

I don't see why everyone isn't looking at Blur as a probable headliner.

As it goes they are playing all over the world, including Europe. Obviously the whole 'they played big show outdoors last year' might hint at it being less likely, but still can't see them not doing a UK date this year, have it on an exclusive. Plenty of acts do big shows year after year. Would fit with the other bands headlining,

Eminem Biffy Blur

seems like a solid set of headliners diversity. Big undercard, also surely Blur sells tickets.

On another note Kendrick Lamar playing V. Can't see why he wouldn't play Reading weekend after, if he's over here, not an exclusive as he's doing Wireless?! Would be a quality booking Good Kid Mad City one of the best hip hop albums in years.

The main reason that Blur aren't a glaringly obvious possibility is that efests have had a quote from inside their camp that they aren't doing any UK festivals. Could be bollocks as it seems odd that they've been active in Europe for two years now and not done a UK festival, but it's why people aren't pushing them harder.

I've never really looked at it to be honest but if that's what you need to do to stop people thinking everything is a prediction.

In fairness though, the post I was referring to was a whole lineup pretty much that I was like, I'm there if you changed these so I'd like it. My prediction is actually a few pages back now.

Yeah, I'd be dithering about The Prodigy or not but put it in there as a possible. There is another post though where I'd said I didn't see them at Glastonbury and given what lucky had said, that if T have them, V have them, that hunch was why I said a possible GG or Creamfields UK only in between albums. But I'll change that now

Thoughts on sub now? Here's the way I see it

NIN (looking likely)

XX (still no uk fest shows)

Bloc party (still free, but are they still big enough?)

Chase-status (subbed download, maybe under eminem

Fall out boy (some people think big enough)

Paramore (someone got the horrid idea in my head)

Any curveball subs you guys can think of?

Yeah Dizzee into Biffy is sounding like an increasingly reasonable scenario, Biffy are pitched in between rock and indie and young and old so I think that day will be a bit of a mish-mash.

    • A question has crossed my (questionable) mind;   Has the size of the Green Fields remained the same as other areas have expanded / been added on to, since say, 2014 (the last time that I attended)? Are they 'lost' within, or well attended?    That's actually two questions. The second one just slipped in at the end by taking advantage of my lack of means to stop it.
    • I'd say the same about Kylie.    Annie would be awesome, Duran not so much, and on the issue of them wanting a beanie slot, that probably rules out a fair few others who I think would fit the bill very well... and are legitimately more entitled to a headline, and/or too expensive.   Was just about to suggest Chaka Khan, but see @Gnomicide has beat me to it!    What about someone like Bryan Ferry?
